When Country Living contacted me earlier this year to share this collection of fashion plates I was excited and nervous. Nervous because these plates were in a storage container in my basement since I could never decide on which wall to hang them. And now I had a deadline of one week to scout my photos of these in my home. I narrowed down three locations for hanging them and at the last moment decided here above the bookcase. I had recently turned around my books, and while this seemed a little risky (turned around books are a sensitive subject) I just went for it. Unlike many projects around here, this one went fairly smoothly. There were a couple texts and calls to my mom asking opinions about layout when I got a little stuck. And while this was a thoughtful process, I never over-thought my decisions (very unlike me) and not once did I panic. When sharing this with my husband later on, he simply said “you were following your muse”. Gah, it makes me tear up just typing those words. I am so grateful for that opportunity to share and feel in my element, because just a couple years prior I was stuck, feeling frustrated that there was little time as a mom and seemingly few opportunities for my creativity. My hope is that those of you wishing for these opportunities will find your special calling and follow your muse. .
