Recipe below. • • • • Copy Cat Cafe Rio Shredded Chicken. Place everything in a crockpot. 5-6 Chicken Breast 1 can chicken broth 1/2 cup zesty Italian dressing 1 fresh squeezed lime 1 Tbsp chili powder 2 tsp onion powder 1 tsp garlic powder 1 tsp paprika 1 tsp cumin 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper Turn on low for 6 hours and then Shred! I’m not gonna lie, I tried something knew and experimented with some jerk chicken flavors and maybe went overboard on the all spice? On four pounds of chicken. . Everyone hates it but me, which means I’ll have plenty of chicken for ME and my salad-obsession all week long.💁🏼 . So maybe I’ll make it again. . But I do have one helpful thought, (besides make gross chicken so you can have it all to yourself) do you already have these metal skewers? Oh my gosh, so much easier than remembering to soak the wooden ones and then watching them burn and leave splinters in your chicken anyway. 🙄 #justme? . I grabbed another set just in the baking aisle of the grocery store again today- but I’m sure you can get em anywhere. You should. Summer’s not over yet! CHOICES. I got the big idea that eating like a 9-year-old would make for a comforting day. In pictures, it looks awesome. But I can tell you that bowl of cereal didn’t satiate me for long - and neither did the quesadilla. My plan didn’t allow for any snacks - just dessert - the whole pint of ice cream. So by 4:00pm, I was starving for dinner. I found this Vegetable & Ricotta Lasagna from @gkskinnypasta at @sprouts yesterday and knew I had to try it out for meatless Monday and I have to say it was REALLY good! It comes in the frozen section as one large thin lasagna sheet so after I microwaved it I cut it in half and stacked it to give it more height 😅 . . Frozen dinners can get a bad rap (side note: I’m in SUCH a positive mood today obviously because I keep trying to give light to things that get bad raps😅 like I talked about how Mondays get bad raps in my last post🤷🏼‍♀️😘) BUT the truth is frozen dinners are convenient, can be super delicious, and can also be high in nutrients, so I don’t think we should disregard them🤗 But I will say though that sometimes they can be a bit small portioned, so I totally suggest trying to add in some more volume foods to make a meal more filling and satisfying! Like here, I added in 1/2 bag of chopped greens from @readypacfoods and 1 tbsp green goddess dressing from @bolthousefarms 🥗 my salad added just 58 calories but let me fill my whole plate to make my meal look and feel more complete! It also added 3g of fiber which helps me feel fuller longer😃🙌 . . Meal Macros: 416 kcal 32P/35C/16.5F . . What’s your take on frozen dinners? Have any that you love?😍 Any that we should avoid??😬😬

we’re quick to focus on weight loss, but body composition goals should really be focused on fat loss. •• both WL & FL require eating in a calorie deficit, but WL merely represents what the scale says - your relationship with gravity for the day. daily fluctuations in weight are completely normal responses to changes in sleep, stress, hydration, digestion, etc. •• you can dramatically restrict calories & lose weight as a result, but chances are that changes on the scale represents loss of lean body mass in addition to body fat. •• for FAT LOSS you must be eating e n o u g h food (with an emphasis on enough protein) so that changes in body comp are the result of decreasing body fat, not losing muscle mass. FL can be seen on the scale, but can also be seen in changes in body composition, body measurements, and how your clothes fit. •• BOTTOM LINE: don’t focus solely on the scale. pay attention to how you feel & how your clothes fit. don’t overrestrict. eat in a deficit but focus on protein & eating enough to still feel good. what’s the point of a lower number on the scale if you feel like 💩? #flexiblenutrition #fatlosstips

🚘🍰Traveling with Nutrition🍰🚖 __ Anyone else enjoy trying appetizers from different places?👍 if so, do you become scared when you can not account for the calories? __ However, what happens when the nutrition facts are not present? __ Evermore, when you go on vacation or travel? __ While most like to “think” calories do not count while traveling, but they do. For the most part, most restaurants will have either calories and nutrition facts listed on their menus or websites. __ “Gil, what if I can’t find the info?” __ Simple, just because you do not have a scale or a fixated number of calories present does not change anything. That bagel sandwich you got from that Mom & Pop diner has relatively the same caloric content as the one at your favorite fast food chain. __ Is it completely accurate? Absolutely not.. __ However, accuracy is minimal within energy intake when training intensity and movement expenditure is accounted for on the other end. __ So what if you are off by 50-200 calories! Nutrition is meant to have open perimeters, not strict guidelines. If your training or daily activity can not account for a 10-20% room for error, evaluation needs to be taken. __ More so, this is why I encourage athletes and clients to eat foods outside of what “fits”. It gives them cognitive comparisons to what expect when “untracked” foods come about. __ Order that extra scoop of ice cream. Ask for that extra whipped cream on the side. Bake those cookies that are “calorie killers”. __ Your mind and body will thank you!👌🏽 __ 🔺Different Breed Athletics🔺

Are nuts a good source of protein?🥜🥜 (yes I know these are peanut emojis and peanuts are legumes not nuts. Where are the nut emojis?!) - Nuts are great, because they contain healthy fats and micronutrients that our bodies need. But the idea that nuts are a good source of protein is silly. Almonds for example are 73% fat and only 14% protein. - I consider something a “good source of protein” when it is actually relatively high protein while not having many tag-along starches+fats, and in that case nuts are a weak protein source. I’m not talking about the quality of protein in almonds vs chicken breast, but how much protein you can get without consuming a lot of extra calories. There’s nothing wrong with the protein in nuts & seeds. You just have to be aware that it will take up A LOT of your fat macros if you try to consume most of your daily protein through nuts🤷‍♂️ - Nuts are awesome. And let the latest cut cycle begin! After thoroughly enjoying eating whatever the hell I wanted for the last 6 months, it’s time to shred down a bit. Aiming to cut for 12ish weeks and go from there. . . A massive plate of spaghetti without an obnoxious amount of calories and carbs. This has 433cals and macros are 27C 21F 34P. #Nupasta is a staple in my pantry when I’m on poverty macros. Cutting doesn’t mean you have to starve and doesn’t mean you have to live off chicken and broccoli. Just gotta get a little creative in the kitchen 🙃.
