Happy Sunday! I’m a little late to last weeks #lgsistersunite post - meal diary. I’m horrible at remembering to snap a pic of each meal so here are some random pics of what I’ve made recently! WHAT A DIFFERENCE 48 hours makes 😂. Friday was my first time ever doing push presses & let me tell you they were ugly. My feet were coming off the ground & I was legit a wiggle worm (this is one of the better sets 😂). Today was my second time doing them and what a difference! Many factors come into play when developing a training program tailored for a rock climber. Strength, endurance, balance, flexibility and confidence all are integral components. . 1)Strength Strength is critical as a climber. Sometimes increased strength can compensate for technique as a climber and sometimes the opposite is true. Regardless, strength is crucial in order to progress and get you moving from easier climbs to harder climbs. Upper body, forearm, finger and leg strength all work synergistically to accomplish this. 2)Endurance Endurance is essential as a climber, as well, especially during the climbs. Try ascending and descending a route at your climbing gym several times in succession to increase your endurance. Add weight to make it harder. 3)Balance Having good balance and being centered while climbing is also essential. However, the best way to improve your balance is simply to climb. There are drills you can perform which will help you to increase keeping your weight centered above your feet and strengthen those stabilizing muscles that aid in the process. Eg- One-handed climbing, climbing hands below chest, stability equipments at gym etc . Flexibility As a climber, flexibility also plays a key role. Ever try and reach that foothold that you couldn't quite get to because your hamstring was so tight? Incorporating stretching regularly into your routine. . I never had that feeling like I need to grow my bottom area, even opposed I always wanted to have smaller and flatter 🍑🙊 This is the main part where my body stores the fats. In my case it’s very difficult to get that glutes and hamstrings muscle definition which I am working on for the last 2,5 years. I can see changes in my shape and I am very comfortable to wear tights with short top, you wouldn’t believe, but I never did it before I started training. I was only wearing something that at least could cover my 🍑 I was very shy with the size and shape, to me I didn’t look proportional and yes some people like that look, but not me, probably just sometimes, because I could see that some tight dresses looked great on my type of body. Currently, the glutes and hamstrings are in priority of my training program. It’s only in the last couple of years that I’ve learned how to see food as as source of fuel instead of a way to avoid feeling negative emotions (though it’s definitely still a work-in-progress!). – I’ve taken the time to research proper nutrition and how to balance macronutrients, to understand why consuming too much sugar is bad for my health and to experiment with how much better I feel when I fill my plate with fresh vegetables and lean meats instead of fiber-less, sugar-filled carbs. Successful transformation, right!? - Wrong! - What you don’t see is the ups and the downs between the photos. - I could easily bullshit you and say I gave it everything I had every single day but that’s not true. - There are days, weeks, and even months of set backs in between these photos from skipped workouts, binge eating, half ass effort, pounds gained back, and dozens of excuses I let defeat me. - You have to take highs with the lows, and realize no one...NO ONE kills it everyday! - We are human, we have setbacks, and we damn sure ain’t perfect or feel motivated everyday to get shit done. - The thing I’ve found that helps the most is to stop the bleeding. - Sometimes the bleeding last a couple hours, days, weeks or months. - But the sooner you recognize yourself destructing actions and stop them, the sooner you can get on with the healing. - I gained back 40 pounds from winter to spring, but not the entire 135 pounds I had lost. - Once I stopped the bleeding, I healed myself up and have been on a better path ever since. - I’ve learned to recognize actions leading up to myself destructing ways, and correct them as soon as possible. - Someone reading this right now has fallen off, and feels to far gone...YOU’RE NOT! - Get back on, and get back to it! Oh my gosh you guys....I don’t know....for some reason @focusedfitnesspt and I are twins 👯‍♀️again but, not for great reason this weekend. . Hormones can be brutal. My cravings for sugar today were sooooo strong. It was like a battle that I just was not going to win today. It was that mixed with the fact that I feel I have no space in this temporary housing to just get away and be alone. And I start to feel trapped a bit. . The two of those factors combined make for the perfect storm for me🤦🏻‍♀️ . Dang it. So what got me? Doughnuts, pizza, Oreos, Ice Cream.....and the worst part is I felt sick, like it is NOT enjoyable when you’re eating out of control. . So it happened. It’s been a long time since that has happened to me. And I could have withheld this from you. I could have posted some perfect meal and had you believe my struggles are over. Have you believe I’m fixed and a perfect eater now. Because reality is, I’m a Coach who helps people battle this. It’s not in my best interest to show you I f-ed up. But, I never have been in this for some bottom line. I am here to battle with you. Show you more importantly to not let your slip ups define you. Not let them cause you to berate yourself. I’m here becuase you will slip up. You will struggle. But we can quickly get back up. Help ourselves out and battle again. . I’m not mad at myself. Not at all. I just know I need to be more aware when hormones are at play. And I need to find some time alone in this new environment💗So that is my goal this week. I will track macros this week and journal.
