I finished this painting early March when the sun was shining and spring was in the air again on the west coast. We had a brief week of snow late February which buried the crocuses and snow drops and one might have worried for their survival. But these lovely first flowers of spring are so resilient and when the snow was gone they were waiting with their messages of hope for a brilliant spring and summer ahead. Cliche though it may sound, Hope Springs Eternal, is the name that popped into my mind for this painting. After all Spring is that wonderful time of year when the days get longer, flowers start to show up, trees are budding, and it feels like the possibilities are endless. It feels like a time of renewal and who doesn’t love that!
