“My life is all about football. I’m from Rabat. I belong here. I work in an office in the morning but my dream is to put on a tracksuit and help the young generation accomplish their dreams in sports. But in Malta, a full-time job in sports, is very difficult. Working as a children’s sports coach is very satisfying. As the years gone by, kids grow up but they still call you, “Hey coach!” It’s such a pleasure teaching them a skill and then watching them develop it according to their potential. I’ve also started helping in the football section in the Special Olympics.
I believe that everyone has a role in football and they have to stick to it. A coach is a coach and parents are parents. Unfortunately, many parents think they’re coaches but you come across others who are more supportive. In sports, players, coaches, parents and administrators have to work together and pull the rope in the same direction.”
