When you should do strength work in relation to your run training can be tricky. In general, for myself and my running clients, I try to schedule the most fatiguing & running specific strength work on the hardest run days. The goal is to make rest and recovery days TRUE rest and recovery days. So the 2 or so strength routines I do weekly that are going to be the more tiring get done after my track or tempo type running workouts. 🏃🏻‍♀️ this morning run 🏃🏻‍♀️ A bit late but not had chance to write anything up. This morning was 15 minutes warm up and cool down, coming in at just over a 2 miles between them plus intervals. I’m still not a fan of intervals but I’m learning to accept them. As my watch adapts to pace changes slowly I ended up way overshooting my 10k pace but there you go. My feet are feeling a bit abused this week (apologies for foot photo) but my flip flops are here and my feet feel instantly happier. Didn’t think that was possible! Instantly relaxed and a little rested weirdly. INGEBRIGTSEN TAKES HOME TWO MEDALS TO NORWAY AFTER WORLD U20 CHAMPS - — In a most eventful championships, Norway’s rising track phenom Jakob Ingebrigtsen (17) challenged the very best in the world at this level in a long haul for home took both in the 1500m and 5000m. The prior had lived up to the hype as George Manangoi (17), the world U18. champion and brother of senior world champion Elijah Manangoi, claimed victory only after a wild final 800m that was run in a blistering 1:49! Silver went to the Norwegian, who tactically ran an energy wasting race running most of it in lane 2, but despite this still beat world indoor champion and world number 2 Samuel Tefera. For the 5000m, it came down to the final 800m as well which the major contenders covered in a spectacular 1:51 nonetheless after averaging 13:40 pace for the opening 4 kilometers. His bronze medal in 13:20.78 was still very exceptional as the mark was a new European U20 record. There’s still more room to improve as I feel Ingebrigtsen is in sub 13:10 shape at the moment after watching that enthralling finish he had in his third race of 5 days. Quand je dis que courir en fin d’aprem, on souffre mais ça donne un joli teint comme si on était parti en vacances 😁😁. Trêve de plaisanterie, il est temps de revoir le plan nutritionnel pour contrecarrer la fatigue et enlever les kgs pris dernièrement et trop vite. Comme dit précédemment, je m’intéresse à la chronobiologie .. verdict la nuit dernière: réveil naturel à 3h30-4h ..... j’ai opté pour me rendormir et ce fut le cas . Great way to end off the day 😁🥒🍠🍅🍴A big plate of cucumber, tomato topped with nutritional yeast, and sweet potato along with a big green juice on the side 💚 This morning I had a 1 hour run with 14*45 second sprints through out🏃🏼‍♀️. Then this afternoon I went for a 2:30 hour ride 🚴🏼‍♀️ Great way to spend my day off of work. Also had time to do some much needed “to do” list things...and I had some time to read a non school related book...still health related though😉 learning lots about our bodies needs for specific vitamins and minerals specifically for athletes. What their functions are and how our body is best able to utilize them. Two years ago today I became a runner. Sure, I’d run two 5ks but with barely any training. But, two years ago today I started to train for my first half marathon, caught the bug, and well the rest is history! In two years I’ve run 4 halves, 2 five milers, 2 10ks, countless 5ks, and the Boston Marathon and run a lot of miles. This year I learned that running with a team makes it even more rewarding and I can’t imagine the last several months of my running adventure without my @heartbreakersrun and @coachdanbos. Today I ran into my 3rd year of running. Not what I expected my #bikecommute to look like today! 🚴‍♀️ Can you see that cloud of smoke? 😱 . When I hit far more traffic than usual on 5th Avenue I thought something was up — and when I got a clear look downtown I could see an ominous cloud of smoke 😳 Turns out a steam pipe exploded downtown earlier 💥 The Flatiron district is a mess, and traffic built up as roads were closed and buildings were evacuated, but fortunately no one was injured. . I don’t usually assume the worst, but it is pretty scary to see something like this and not know what’s going on ☹️ I’m glad it was just an unfortunate accident that doesn’t seem to have hurt anyone (except people stuck in traffic or who can’t get into their offices today!) Adding 5 minutes onto my commute isn’t a big deal if my building is still accessible and life goes on as usual 😛 . Breakfast is the most important meal of the day - - - - Great days and great memories. My day typically starts with a morning run. Max will wake up in the morning and call down to me asking me how many miles. We make it a guessing game, but he’s getting wiser on the guesses. Max and Mia come down while I’m finishing up breakfast and say good morning. I just love these little moments.

For my first run in Bucarest I went to the dilapidated Dinamo stadium and did 12 x 400 m. . I started out flying around the track but had a dip around half way. Miscounting my reps, I gave my all for round 11, before realizing I was still 800m short of the total distance. 😰 . Despite my mathematical and pacing difficulties, this run is rated 10/10! While the stadium is falling apart and the track is scattered with cinderblocks, the community on the track made it a surreal experience. I passed a little girl who jogged (by my count) at least a mile with a Hallo Kitty rattle and was overtaken myself by both a speedy elderly lady and a guy on a bicycle fitted with a petrol engine. . Best mail ever!!🙌🏼📬🏃🏻 When I crossed the finish line🏁 in Boston back in April in 2:42, my first thought (after OMG IM GLAD THATS OVER, I NEED A 3 HOUR HOT SHOWER💦) was never having a more accomplished feeling than that moment, even ending up far short of my goal. I've had great moments both in running and my life. But this, had seemingly moved its way to the top.📈 People ask me what drives me. On this day, I thought of the 2016 Boston which I had a DNF at mile 22. I kept telling myself no pain I put myself through today, will be greater than the pain of not crossing the finish line (again). Will power and heart 💗are a powerful thing! No matter what running (or life) throws at you, never give up!🙌🏼 Even though 99% of us fell short of our goals, it was and will always be honor to have shared the streets with you on a day that will never be forgotten! Shaved 5 minutes off my normal 4 mile time. I think being dressed in head to toe purple helps. Woke up early and knocked out a 4 mile tempo day with Riley! Tried to give myself a 15 second cushion since I was doing it with the stroller and was super excited when I hit the paces I wanted!👊🏻🙌🏻 🎉 1.5 mile warm up 8:09 8:07 8:08 8:04 Avg 8:26 1.5 mile cool down with @kholleman13 and the kiddos! The @runottawa 15km Farm Run last night wasn’t an easy one for me, but this #runningcommunity kept me going. I was tired and mentally in a very negative state of mind (with respect to my running ability). I wanted to quit at the 5km and 7km mark, but I knew that I couldn’t. Coming around the corner and approaching the finish hearing the Crew cheering me on was EXACTLY what I needed. I didn’t finish in the time that I wanted, but I finished to an AMAZING group of friends. Today’s realisation c/o @notestostrangers. Slept through my alarm, missed my personal training session, was awoken by PT calling asking where I was 😑 . Still getting myself into a mindset where I don’t feel guilty for skipping a day on this plan 🤷🏽‍♀️ Feeling like week one has been a bit of a fail just because of this when I posted yesterday how well it was going 🤔 . It’s been a tough time lately, and @suziebleasdale keeps saying this to me. LIFE IS BLOODY HARD 👊🏼. We manage hectic jobs, in one of the most hectic cities in the world, we have hectic friends, hectic training plans and hectic heads 🤕 . So my promise to myself for the rest of this Valencia Marathon plan? TRY to go easier on myself, TRY not to fret, TRY to feel no guilt and TRY to listen to my body. .
