Boulder shoulder day : Focus on the Arnold press 💪🏿
One of the best bodybuilding exercises to get big shoulders like melons. Bearing the name of the sevenfold Mr. Olympia Arnold Schwarzenegger, it works the shoulders differently by focusing on the front of this muscle group.
Yes I know I know you gonna tell me that this part of the shoulder is already solicited in many exercises like the bench press or the dips. But it can be judicious to integrate it in your routine to vary a little the training and to work the muscular coordination. And if Arnold did it, there must be an interest!
The movement is quite complex and solicits the entire shoulder. Of course, the front of the shoulder works a lot but other secondary muscles such as the external deltoid, the triceps, the trapezius and the top portion of the pecs are also solicited.
At the beginning of the movement, with the supinated grip (palms facing you), the front of the shoulder does most of the work. By climbing the dumbbells and moving the elbows away, the stress is transferred to the side beam of the shoulder. And at the end of the movement, arms outstretched and hands in pronation, the side and the rear of shoulder are put to contribution.
