I started drinking during my freshman year of college. The daily habit lasted over a decade; in college I'd have a few cups a day (including lattes!), then eventually just two cups of drip, max, per day. I LOVE the taste of coffee, but I started to notice some adverse reactions. With coffee, I felt more tired after the energy spikes subsided, and more anxious. As an experiment, I switched over to and other teas as my only source of caffeine for 21 days. I'd heard from friends who'd made the switch, and they'd shared positive findings. After two weeks, I allowed myself to have decaf coffee for taste only. TBH I was worried it would trigger my inner coffee fiend and I'd break the experiment, but I was totally fine. After this experiment, I feel way less dependent on coffee, and cravings are taste-based, not need-based. My energy throughout the day is more level with tea. I did enjoy a cup of caffeinated coffee today, but won't be integrating it as a daily kickstarter again anytime soon :) Have you ever taken a break from coffee, or perhaps successfully eliminated caffeine from your diet?
