Sparkling Water is it the enemy? The chances are if you are in a group of people at least one person will say it is bad for you. But is there evidence for that claim? Sparkling water is pretty much made by adding carbon dioxide under pressure. The result is that water contains the weak acids carbonic acid. If you gulp it down it will cause either hiccups or indigestion but if drank at a steady pace? Let’s look at the stomach Aside from it will leave you feeling slightly bloated researches in Japan did a random study on a group of women. They had a group of women fast overnight and then slowly drink either still or sparkling water. They found that 900ml of gas was released from just 250ml of water, so not surprisingly the women’s stomachs distended slightly and the had the perception of feeling full, even though they hadn’t eaten. They didn’t feel uncomfortable and so fizzy water has been suggested as a way of avoiding overeating, because it makes you feel fuller. Another small test was carried out In a small but double-blinded randomised trial, patients with frequent dyspepsia or constipation were assigned to drink either still or sparkling water for 15 days. Then they were given a series of tests. Both conditions improved in the people drinking sparkling water and showed no improvement in those drinking tap water. So basically no it’s has no effect on the stomach in a harmful way. Bone problems? But if sparkling water doesn’t damage your stomach, how about your bones? Does it weaken them? Again, the evidence so far suggests not. In 2006 a study was taken out to examine the relationship between bone density and fizzy drinks. They looked in detail at the different types of drink consumed by more 2,500 taking part in the study. They found that carbonated water made no difference on bone density when drank over 3 times a week compared to coke. As there is no caffeine or phosphoric acid found in fizzy water. So as studies show it is fine to add some spice to your water without the worry. For today’s post workout meal I made salmon patties with a side of steamed rice. Meal simplicity at its finest, done in under 30 minutes time and packs plenty of essential nutrients to keep my energy high all morning long. I simply added the canned salmon with 5 whole wheat crackers, a tbsp of mustard and one egg, mixed together thoroughly and rolled in patties. Heating a skillet to medium high I spray it with olive oil and placed the patties on the heat for 3-4 minutes per side giving them a nice golden crust. QUICK + EASY + DELICIOUS My mother in laws recipe to a tasty, nutritious frittata: _ - chop 1 leek and 1 onion finely + cook on a buttered pan, leave aside to cool once cooked. - in a mixing bowl, whisk together 5 eggs, 200g full fat ricotta, 100g danish feta, salt, and a pinch of nutmeg. - toss through 300g finely chopped kale or baby spinach leaves or both! - mix through cooked vegetables, along with your leaves + egg mixture. - line a round or rectangle baking tin, + pour egg mixture into tin. - top mixture with 30g tasty shredded cheese. - bake for 35-40 minutes, until well cooked through + golden on top. A fabulous way to increase your greens, a quick + easy breakfast or snack option. I always have this cooked on a Sunday, ready for the week ahead. 🍃 🍳 Enjoy! x

One of the most difficult part of mommying is weaning off our little one's habit of having milk in frequent intervals.. often they are just bored or habitual of having milk which should be reduced as they grow.. Other than proper Breakfast, lunch and dinner, we should feed them other healthy alternates rather than milk.. but not too much to kill their meal hunger.. . . 1) Fox Nuts ( Makhana) . 2) Fruits . 3) Healthy cookies with no preservatives.. . 4) Murmura or wheat sticks.. . 5) Potato Fries.. . 6) Juices, coconut water.. . CARBS are not bad for you. 🔥Good sources like whole wheat will be good for you. 🔥You can eat a good carb portion at night with a protein portion and some veggies and voila! You have a great meal. . Think of it this way, your body doesn't know what time it is and your metabolism won't magically say, “It’s 6pm, everything you eat from now on will be stored as fat”. .
