I’ve always found the idea of being a master of solely one thing quite restrictive. The counter argument being you’re spread too thin as a jack-of-all, sure, but I often find myself enjoying life more when I’m flittering between art forms. The idea of a modern day renaissance man—or a polymath if we’re eliminating all romance in language—is so ridiculously appealing to me. I wake up every morning with the aim of learning something new, or challenging myself to do something differently. Yes, sometimes it doesn’t lead to anything and I’ll find myself getting impatient and/or frustrated, other times having a routine does suit my mood, but the idea of waking up knowing that each day can and will be completely different to the last if we WANT it to be? Man, what a way of being. For anyone thinking they can’t do it all. You absolutely must. Do it all with passion and vigour, find what you’re great at and build on it. Throw things at the wall and see what sticks. Find what motivates and intrigues you and grab it. Exploit it. Life is way too short to even consider the what ifs. Don’t dwell; do. 📸 @__sofiamughal.
