🏛 This was my first great museum, and I still remember my admiration for the imponent Assyrian walls and Egyptian sculptures when I saw them for the very first time. Maybe the exact first time I actually felt in a History book, a feeling that I have already talked about here, and which has since then been an impulse for me to travel. The Egyptian section of the British Museum is simply remarkable. I am happy that the venue is really close to where I am working here in London, and I shall pay some visits in the next months. Moreover, admission is free!
Impossible not to put some thinking on how all these artifacts and pieces of art got to be exhibited in European museums. They were raided and sequestrated at a time when people didn't care much about this. Nonetheless, I look forward to the day when I will be able to visit Egypt and the Mesopotamia region to see what was left. 📷 When I took this photo last Saturday I thought it was not good at all. A few days have passed and now I actually like it. That is why I am always reluctant to erase photos and empty memory cards 😆.
