I don’t know the full biochemical scope on why human faeces, compared to cow dung, is not safe for use as a natural fertiliser, though a lot of it has to do with what we put into our face hole and digestive pipes such as pharmaceutical drugs and food-like products. Eating foods outside of our species’ design metabolises chemically pathological poo that disturbs the microbiome everyone is so obsessed about these days. Imagine what it would do to our soil! Our digestive systems process poo out of harmony with our internal and external environments when we feed ourselves the incorrect fuel, which later requires further processing in treatment plants to prevent it from being a biohazard. I dare say if we ate as nature intended our digestive residues would be more symbiotically nourishing for the environment. What an amazing weekend at Flowjam Festival! Before my workshop, I picked mulberries with the children and Dante led a peaceful sound healing. My students learned the science of the microbiome and ways to maximize gut health to become a superhuman ecosystem! The next day, we made Supercharged dragonfruit guacamole with fresh herbs from my garden, picked black raspberries and I spent some 1:1 time doing consults. Thanks @environmentaltoxinsnerd, I still use an old glass blender 😉. BPA⠀ ⠀ BPA, or bisphenol A, is a chemical plasticizer you've likely heard about before. It's one of those things that everyone knows to avoid but don’t always know why. ⠀ ⠀ BPA exposure is linked to thyroid disruption in men & women: animal studies have shown that BPA blocks thyroid receptor sites. A 2011 study found that greater concentrations of urinary phthalate metabolites (see earlier post) and BPA were associated with greater impacts on serum thyroid level. ⠀ ⠀ BPA is found in the lining of canned foods, in certain types of plastics, and in cash register receipts (among others). ⠀ ⠀ But don't get sucked in by BPA-FREE claims on products! They're usually a load of BS. Companies jumped to take out BPA after consumers made their voices heard, but they just pulled a switcheroo and replaced BPA with nearly identical chemicals from the same family (BPS, BPF, BPG, etc). Research into these is showing they're just as bad, if not worse. ⠀ ⠀ Here are some tips on avoiding BPA... get good at regularly sharing these with your clients & patients! ⠀ ⠀ 🌿 Don't tacitly trust a BPA-free symbol on a product. That doesn't mean it's safe. Skip plastic whenever possible ⠀ 🌿 Avoid canned foods, heating foods in plastic, storing foods in plastic, or eating with plastic⠀ ⠀ 🌿 Pass on cash register receipts: that powdery coating on thermal paper is BPA or it's alternatives, and it's readily absorbed through our skin.⠀ ⠀ And guys: please stop it with the hot #bulletproof coffees and fancy coconut milk & #adpatogen elixirs that you're blender in your vitamix. Hot water and plastic are a hard NO. Whip out your old glass blender, or use a stainless steel immersion blender... works just as well!⠀ ⠀ #Repost

Guilty on this one ... Do as I say, not as I do; right? . .. However, it would behoove my boys, myself & everyone to turn it down while eating. Aim to sit quietly, and actually enjoy your food. Beyond philosophical & gratuitous reasons for this, we have physiological rhyme & reason: . .. Multi-tasking & #stress prompts the #fightorflight #sympatheticnervoussystem (SNS). We know that this often opposes or inhibits the #rest & #digest parasympathetic nervous system. . .. The SNS diverts blood flow from the organs, including & especially the #gut to the periphery, like your limbs. This is to enhance our ability to fight or flee (flight) from any danger or predator, which is how our body reacts to the perception of stress. . .. Less blood flow to the gut means subpar function. Fun nutrition fact of the day that I learned there: chose yogurts with a least 5 probiotic strands in them (they are listed on the label). I don’t know the full biochemical scope on why human faeces, compared to cow dung, is not safe for use as a natural fertiliser, though a lot of it has to do with what we put into our face hole and digestive pipes such as pharmaceutical drugs and food-like products. Eating foods outside of our species’ design metabolises chemically pathological poo that disturbs the microbiome everyone is so obsessed about these days. Imagine what it would do to our soil! Our digestive systems process poo out of harmony with our internal and external environments when we feed ourselves the incorrect fuel, which later requires further processing in treatment plants to prevent it from being a biohazard. I dare say if we ate as nature intended our digestive residues would be more symbiotically nourishing for the environment.
