* * THE F WORD * * • I’m all about the fibre at the moment - it’s fertiliser for your gut garden, the stuff your helpful bacteria thrive on. Low fibre diets shrink the diversity of your gut bacteria, fibre rich diets have the opposite effect. And that’s a good thing, because a diverse microbiota seems to be linked with protection against a number of health conditions • So fibre. It’s a good thing for most of us. The advice is to aim for about 30 grams a day. What does that look like? That’s often the bit about nutrition guidelines that’s not often translated. Well my brekkie today ☝️ has 14 grams - almost half the recommended daily intake - that’s pretty good for one meal! Half a cup of oats, a tbsp of chia (soaked overnight in milk) and 100 grams ( a couple of handfuls) of frozen berries.
