Motherhood changed me. I’ve taken pause many times over the last 4 months to reflect on the ways it’s made me better, as well as the areas I can improve. The day I brought my daughter into the world was the day I promised to always do my best, even when it’s hard, to be a good mom to her. That means taking care of both of us, and sometimes letting people take care of me, too. It means never letting myself off the hook, or forget what’s really important. Not the size of my 👖 or definition on my arms or athletic accomplishments. It is fine to have goals and work on self improvement, but these things do not take center priority in my life. Health, on the other hand, is everything I stand for. True body love, in my opinion, is accepting that our bodies are worth love in every shape and size throughout life, not just the size we like or want to be. This is one of the most important lessons we can teach our children; self-acceptance doesn’t have a sell-by date or magic number. I’ve stopped using tampons all together as they block air flow to an area that shouldn’t be blocked. But using organic products on the lady parts is sooo important!! . This is a sacred area that readily absorbs whatever it is exposed too so it is vital to spend a little extra on organic products for this. . Menstrual cups can be another great option but I’d be sure to look for one not made of silicone. Personally, I’m not a fan of them but I’ve heard numerous women rave about them (to be fair, I accidentally bought the size for after you’ve given birth and I’m straight up scarred from the experience 😂🙈) . Glyphosate has been found to cause cancer and is also used as an antibiotic. Certainly not a product you want around an area that has the perfect bacterial ecosystem! Not to mention, these chemicals may also disrupt the endocrine system which can lead to a whole cascade of hormonal issues. . Personally, ever since I’ve switched to organic feminine hygiene products and rarely using tampons, my cramps have significantly decreased and my periods are overall wayy less symptomatic 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 . Sri Dharma Mittra, born May 14, 1939 in Brazil, began to explore esoteric knowledge in his teens. He had many disciplines including jiu-jitsu, wrestling and bodybuilding. In 1958, Sri Dharma began 7 years of service in the Brazilian National Airforce, before leaving to NYC to Sri Swami Kailashananda (Yogi Gupta). Yogi Gupta, a great modern sage of modern India soon became Sri Dharma's Guru. Dharma spent many years of Karma yoga, assisting Yogi Gupta and devoted all other times to his practice. In 1975, Sri Dharma asked for his Guru's blessing to leave the Ashram to open one of the first yoga schools in the USA. He still teaches in NYC today 🙏❤🐾

(Think of moms who become depressed and bored when their kids leave the house). Our soul is not simply the things we do and the labels we give ourselves. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Being multi-faceted is so important, but also to know who you are without the things that make up our lives... it’s even more so 🙏🏼 Who would you be if all your roles fell away? This retrograde has brought out a side of me that I never thought would never show. I’ve been more anxious, I’ve been jealous, I’ve been angry, I’ve been hormonal. I’ve realized a lot about myself during this time. I’ve learned to be patient with the process of life, to not rush. To slow down some days because my mental state desperately needs it. It’s brought out a crazy side in me, but I’ve embraced it. I let the crazy come out because I know it NEEDED to. I needed to rid the weight of past worries. I didn’t expect everything to happen but the universe intended it to. Things happen for a reason and finally that curtain over my eyes had been lifted. This summer was something that I did not expect. I didn’t expect to be as busy as I was, I didn’t expect for my relationship to crumble, I didn’t except the emotions to come out. But that’s LIFE! Things happen for a reason and usually they happen of for the best. I’ve grown this summer but I still have more to explore. •⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So tomorrow we say goodbye to this damn retrograde and honestly I’m happy to wave goodbye to it. Yummy dinner!! I love comfort bowls (my name for buddha bowls). They are rich in macro and micronutrients, and super tasty!! This is a spinach base topped with tomato, mushrooms, pumpkin, shredded chicken and some blueberries😋😋 I also had some fruit with a chocolate fondue, sadly it didn’t last long for me to take a picture, it was way too yummy and appealing! • • • Cena deliciosa! Today’s farmers market trip made me so happy! Since we were on bike, we only brought home what we could fit in Dev’s backpack 🚲 (I knew better than to bring my own, or else we would have bought more than we needed), but sometimes it’s not just about what we buy, it’s about the experience. Spending time with the makers at the market has become such a treat. The vendors at @orangehomegrown are as lovely as they come, and we always leave feeling so inspired by their passion for quality goods. Today, we fell in LOVE with @blodekuhla fermented cashew cheeses, @smallbatchspreads golden milk + agave mustard (yes, really!), and as usual, Grampy Pats 48-hour fermented einkorn & sprouted wheat sourdough. There were so many more I wished I could have taken home, but I’ll be back. 😏 I cannot encourage you enough to make it a habit to hit your local farmers market (if you haven’t already) and get to know the people in your community creating goods worth celebrating. I had a bowl of oatmeal before my workout this morning, so my body wasn’t feeling the potatoes. . Additionally, I knew I had consumed enough carbs from a recovery/performance perspective, so I didn’t need to force it. . THE #1 MISTAKE WITH MATCHA! - - Where my matcha lovers at? 👋🏻 I confess I’m a new convert, but I learned some match facts recently, thanks to my visit at Light of Day Organics, the only certified biodynamic tea farm in all of North America! This place was beyond amazing, but into the good stuff. - - Matcha green tea 🍵 contains the highest concentration of antioxidants compared to all natural fruits and vegetables known thus far. The antioxidant concentration is measured on the ORAC scale; the higher the ORAC value, the stronger antioxidant content. - - Matcha’s ORAC value is 1,384,00 (u mole TE/100 g) while it’s next competitor are cloves, coming in at 314,446 units. Elderberry, known for its immune boosting properties, comes in at 10,655 units. It’s important you’re comparing across the same scale with ORAC units when looking at ORAC values. - - Additionally, matcha green tea 🍵 contains over 10 to 15 times the overall nutrients when compared to traditional Green, White, Black, Rooibos, and Yerba Mate Teas, as well as when compared to fruits and vegetables. ☕️ - - The one downfall - matcha can be expensive. In order to preserve this precious antioxidant content that we pay so much for, matcha CANNOT and SHOULD NOT be stored at room temperature, rather it should be refrigerated or frozen, always❗️❗️❗️ - - That also means NO heating it above 118F because this will destroy it’s antioxidant load, so please don’t bake with or add your matcha to hot drinks! So crazy, I never knew this! - - This morning I threw some of my matcha into a strawberry 🍓 and banana 🍌 smoothie. Anyone else feeling a bit out of balance? I blame the extreme heat of summer along with my often deranged Vata and some poor food choices for fanning the flames for my over the top pitta🤪. {are you feeling me? Or are you more like 🤷🏼‍♀️?} . . Ayurveda is the sister science of yoga & the oldest system of medicine still practiced in the world today and actually where Chinese medicine got its roots from. Ayurveda teaches us that we are an extension of nature & nature is an extension of us, and works to heal the body through diet, herbs & lifestyle practices. It’s the underlying current in my personal practice and where i fundamentally come from when making dietary suggestions and recommendations to my clients. . . I’ve been working with the basic elements of Ayurveda for close to a decade now, have studied with a teacher who learned directly from Vasant Lad himself, but recently I’ve been called to deepen my understanding of this incredible ancient wisdom and medicinal system. Call it my ever curious Vata or my passionate Pitta but today i made an investment for a 300 hour study w/ Dr David Frawley. . . As i further my education I’ll continue to share and offer best practices, but for now i leave you with these 3 simple tips {the same 3 I’m reintroducing as well} to help ground you, offer you a self-care ritual & bring you back to a feeling of balance & energy. . . 1️⃣ start and/or end each day w/ a 5 minute meditation OR a visualization practice & journaling routine. At the end of each day make a list of your most important to-dos so you know WHAT to tackle before the day overwhelms you AND add in there ONE THING you promise to do for yourself. Treat that as one of your top priorities. . 2️⃣ practice daily dry skin brushing & self oil massage {use coconut oil to cool your pitta or sesame oil if you’re very Vata & tend to be cold & dry even in the summer months} . 3️⃣ enjoy more seasonal & COOLING foods {especially important for those feeling agitated lately}. Examples are cucumber, cilantro, yogurt/sour cream, & aloe. Buy fresh aloe {use inner gel}, coconut & cilantro to blend into your smoothies & avoid spicy foods which induce heat and agitation.

Happy Saturday! I wanted to share this fantastic Japanese squash that is great for keto lovers! Low carb, high fiber, also Vitamin A, C and B rich! It is so satisfying and reminds me of a baked potato, but lower calories and carbs. It took me a while to find, but finally found in Richmond at Ellwood’s. While some prefer the gravy made from animal carcass drippings, like I used to; I now much prefer loading veg on veg for a whole meal brimming with nutrients. Only two of the cases in the report so far have led to criminal charges." -NY Times. I feel sick that I was ever associated with this entity. Going to Catholic school was a horrible time in my life because it was an emotional gauntlet and a complete mindfuck. And I didn't even suffer this specific kind of abuse. Chicken #stirfry with peanut sauce 💯 Saturday and actually cooking is not very like-me, I usually leave my go-to recipes so in the weekends I don’t have to cook…BUT today I was craving something with peanuts, I already had the sauce, I had the chicken, and some edamame I baked yesterday… So all I did was cut up some veggies and came up with this clean delicious meal =) 🍲Green Onion, chopped 🍲Yellow & Red Pepper, diced 🍲Carrots, julienned 🍲Edamame (Yesterday I baked a big batch, because I like them “crunchy”, but you could have them steamed or just throw them in frozen to cook with everything else) 🍲Broccoli (They get cooked but keep the crunch) 🍲Cooked chicken 🍲Chives & Crushed Peanuts to top 🍲Peanut Sauce #onwardsauce for the recipe Just sauetee the onion in a little bit of olive oil and add a bit of salt. Add the peppers & carrots and a LOT of peanut sauce. Let it cook for a few min til tender. Add the chicken, edamame, and broccoli. Keep adding peanut sauce to coat everything well. Ya tenia la salsa, tenia el pollo cocinado y los edamame los habia cocinado en el horno ayer (me gusta como quedan medio crocantes)… Asique lo unico q hice fue cortar un par de verduras mas y listo!! EASY summer dinner☀️🍤 These string beans were phenomenal. (organic sourdough garlic bread not pictured). Recipe for shrimp: 1 lb wild caught shrimp cleaned + deveined. Once cleaned throw the shrimp in a bowl and pour 1-2 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil over them. Sprinkle generous amounts of the following spices (seasoning is key): black pepper, pink salt, garlic, paprika. Mix. Heat skillet to medium with extra virgin olive oil and add shrimp once heated. Cook about 3-5 min on each side. Recipe for string beans: Heat large skillet on stove with 1-2 tbsp evoo. Toss in string beans and let cook for a few minutes. Then add black pepper, pink salt, garlic, Italian seasoning. Let cook for another 5-10 minutes. Add a little water or more evoo if necessary. Sprinkle grated parm or pecorino romano cheese on top. Let the cheese just sit on top for a minute then mix. Squeeze 1/4-1/2 lemon in pan and let sit for a minute or two before mixing. Serve! Yup, that easy. 🙌 #gurltogurl #humantohuman
