So picture this: a 7.8 kilometre long ice skating rink running smack bang through the centre of Canada’s capital Ottawa, with amazing abstract patterns on the ice from the skate blades and the fresh powdery snow, and then boom! Suddenly there’s a cute little stone arch bridge leading off into……a creek where there’s more ice skating! Always something gorgeous to look at here……..occasional staircases lead down to the ice, benches for people to sit on while they change their footwear, and all around are cute little shacks that sell food like pastries (an Ottawa icon is Beavertails: a delicious pastry with different flavours like garlic butter, or cinnamon sugar………..yes! I worked for this business about a hundred years ago), hot chips, hot chocolate, maple sugar treats and other Canadian winter goodies. Now I just need to convince my man that he’s not going to fall flat on his face when we finally go skating very soon…………………….I’m going to make him love this! It’s a Canadian thing!
