This is so . One tiny paragraph about , saying they have and nervous systems, and then paragraphs upon paragraphs on how the poor little guys are eaten. 🐙.
Okay, I Googled clams because lately they've been getting a lot of , even from . I mean, if you can call it "hate" when someone goes out of their way to say how undeserving clams are of any protection against being killed and eaten.
Since middle school, I've known that clams (and other molluscs and worms and insects) have nerve ganglia -- basically a bunch of tiny brains strung together instead of one big brain with some branches, like humans have. And I draw the line at killing anyone with any brain cells because it's exceedingly clear to me that all "feeling" is a function of the brain and the brain is a collection of brain cells, so anyone with functioning brain cells can feel. But that's apparently not enough for most people, so I went in search of info that would further "humanize" the clams.
Here's some things I found out:
Clams have eye-like light-sensors and sudden light changes mean there's a possible predator swimming around, so clams burrow into the sand as fast as they can -- meaning they avoid predators -- meaning they want to live -- meaning we shouldn't kill clams.
Clams can photosynthesize but they also have mouths, stomachs, kidneys, anuses, & they are NOT plants. NOT. PLANTS. NOTTTT. PLANTTTTS. And what do vegans eat? Plants. Meaning we shouldn't eat clams.
"Happy as a clam." -- a saying we all know that should have taught you that clams can be happy too, no matter how different their happiness is from yours. Meaning we shouldn't harm clams. Just, yeah.
Anyway, yeah, just had to vent a little. Don't eat clams. Ok?
