In case you haven’t heard, the Beaver Lake skating rink is closed. The city says it’s because the ice is too thin due to fluctuating temperatures. Apparently two maintenance trucks fell through thin ice there last year, so the city wants to avoid accidents.
It sucks, because it used to be a gathering place since 1930s and many Montrealers recall skating at the Beaver Lake as kids. We skated there just a couple years back and had a blast.
The good news is: there are other great skating alternatives. If you don’t want to depend on the weather, you can always opt in for an indoor skating rink.
Atrium Le 1000 (patinoire/skating rink) is just one of many indoor rinks in Montreal. It’s a convenient downtown option. It’s always warm there and there’s a pretty decent food court around the rink.
Give it a try! Especially if you are not an advanced skater and need a good spot to practice. Enjoy! ⛸⛸ #montreal #mtl #montrealmoments #mtlcity #mtlpics #mtlmoments #mtlideas #skating #iceskating #winter #wintersports #skatingrink
