Yesterday's visit to the Charleston tea plantation, America's only, was a dream come true.its been on my bucket list since I heard of its existence seven years ago. The trolley tour led us through many acres of tea bushes to the greenhouse where new plants are grown for a few years until they are planted in the field each fall. 🌿Tea is an evergreen bush. When harvested, only the new growth is cut off the the top. 🌿Tea was first grown in America in Pinehurst, that is the Pinehurst Plantation in Summerville, SC
🌿Our tour guide was very insistent on explaining the tea is this one plant that makes black tea, Oolong tea and green tea. The only difference is the withering and drying time. Any beverage that does not contain this plant is not truly tea. 🌿Yes, I left with a stack of tea 😀 and they had quite a bit to drink there.
