Chateau de Beaucastel Chateauneuf-du-Pape Rouge,2008. Château is 110 hectares, with one single plot at the north of the appellation. Earlier I reviewed the same wine 2009 vintage Magnum bottle, it was like Usain Bolt, I don't know maybe because it was magnum gave me that feeling but it was an exceptional wine which you can find the review at the below pics. 2008 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape is not giving that feelings however it is a great wine as well, especially considering 2008 is not the best year for the region. Wine shows solid complexity with aromas of cherry, black currant, lavender, garrigue, and licorice, medium body, solid concentration. The long finish drips with juicy fruit and subtle toast, with a flash of iron boding well for cellaring. Shows great freshness and balance for this vintage. This sepage has :
Cinsault : 5%
Counoise : 10%
Grenache : 30%
Mourvèdre : 30%
Syrah : 10%
Vaccarèse, Terret Noir, Muscardin, Clairette, Picpoul, Picardan, Bourboulenc, Roussanne : 15%
Restaurant price was 380$. I would rate this wine 92-93 points.
