I was on my way out for Timmies #2, but couldn’t stop chatting ~ and finalizing details to begin crushing it with new friends 👌❤️ . New coaches joining our tribe !!! Further to the topic of breath and activation in my previous post, I found this gem simplifying the coordination of breath and pelvic floor activation. Now imagine holding your breath before performing a dumbbell or barbell deadlift. What do you think happens? . . . The diaphragm contracts and pushes down into the abdomen, creating intra-abdominal pressure. This pressure on non-functioning, weak pelvic floor muscles can lead to pelvic floor dysfunction issues like incontinence, hip or back pain, or prolapse of the pelvic organs. So what can be done? . . . Retrain the pelvic floor muscles first to fire in movement using optimal breathing patterns. From there you will gain a connection with your pelvic floor and core team of muscles. When doing a heavy lift you will be able to feel for some tension in the pelvic floor protecting the area in the lift. How can you learn to do this? . . . *Keeping It Real* 4 months postpartum and I've still got loose skin, white stretch marks, a demented belly button from an old piercing being stretch to the max twice and a little bit of body fat. I've lost a lot of muscle tone from pregnancy and not being able to do any weights training for over a year. Besides walking and Pilates class once a week I only get 1-2 other workouts in at home where I focus mainly on my abdominal separation. It has gone down from a massive 8cm to 1-2cm. I see fitness models with a new baby talk about training at 11pm at night and I cringe at the thought! Lol I go to bed at 8:30pm and asleep by 9:30pm knowing I'll probably be up at 2 or 3am and again anytime from 4:30am onwards. I'm not completely in love with my body right now but it is exactly where it should be postpartum. I always eat well so I've been able to get where I am with my nutrition, not smashing my body with hardcore training. My goal is to now tone up now before Christmas, which is 10 weeks away. Amahli cries if anyone else picks her up besides Tom and I so a gym creche would not work well right now. I've committed to my training plan in my new 10 week workbook as I can do it at home with Amahli. I'm in competition with no one, not even myself. It's a completely different stage of my life and my goals are different. I'm just going with the flow, getting my work done and focusing on my family. As a second time mum I know just how fast this time goes and it doesn't matter if I have a perfectly toned hot rig or not! Balance is the key to happiness not punishment. Be kind to yourself!

I’ve cut out dairy from my diet as I think I might have had some dodgy cheese as I felt sick the night before last and she’s been ill ever since! No breastmilk tonight, just formula 😭 having to express and pour it down the sink to rid myself of the lactose. I set up this page to monitor my fitness progress and what life is like being a new mum after having my first baby Cassie the 6th of October this year. Me being a fitness addict and who loves the gym is starting to feel it difficult not being able to work out. It's been almost 4 weeks since I was last in the gym and that's been the longest length of time not working out in nearly 4 years. I know some of ye...well most actually will only had a baby 10 days need to relax and give your body a chance to recover. But when the gym is part of your every day life that's easier said than done. I miss it and can't wait to get back to it. I found it quite difficult watching my body change during pregnancy esp the last 8 weeks of if and can't wait to feel like me again and start the process of getting my body back. I'm not sure if my body will ever be the same. I'm not sure it will tone and tighten to where I was before. Only time will tell. So far now while I give my body time to recover and heal after a difficult Labour Il be focusing on the nutrition side of things and being as health conscious as I can while not totally restricting myself either.
