I have been waiting for the day to post a picture like this for 12 yrs... Not because of the sex appeal but because of how vulnerable it makes me feel. Honestly this is my 2nd attempt tonight. I deleted the first one. • Anyone who is super close to me knows just how self conscious I have been about the way my body looks post-children. • I was so ashamed... I spent countless nights hating my sagging skin, stretch marks, & how I looked. So much self hatred. 💔 I remember crying for hours just wondering why? All of my friends got NONE. I felt cursed to carry the scars that they didn't get. • The truth is I hated myself before I had children too. The disgust I had put into my heart finally manifested on the outside. As I write this, tears stream down my face for the way I used to feel about myself. No love. No self worth. Just hatred. 😭 • Today, I post this with pride in my heart for the woman I have become; for learning to finally fully love myself. This body is ✨MAGIC!✨ It created life where there was none - the life of my 2 amazing, beautiful, funny, talented boys. I housed miracles within me & did a damn good job of it too! 💯 • I am more confident now than I have EVER been!! I appreciate these scars because they tell the story of where I've been & what I have overcome. They show my strength - that I bore my babies naturally without drugs to numb me. I fucking LOVE this "Mom Bod" & feel so fortunate to have received such a blessing for my physical vessel. 🙏 • I don't struggle with confidence anymore because I know now that true beauty radiates from within. Sorry!!! So here we have it, MY results. You can’t SEE a huge difference but goodness do I FEEL the difference. Right arm 0 Left arm +1cm Chest +1cm Waist -9cm 😱 that’s where I feel it Thighs -2cm 😱that’s where I feel it Weight -2kg (5lb) AND I have the start of a little 6pack which is totally hilarious 😂 (I’m not going to diss my mum tum, but it’s there - stretch marks and skin) How have I done it?? * Working out at home 4 days a week, using the internet * 30-40 minutes per day * 8 weeks * hiit and weights * accountability, support and motivation from a fantastic group of like minded people * keeping hydrated with plenty of water * eating sensibly (not cutting out ANY food groups) * stopped alcohol (apart from 2 glasses of red wine over the whole time) It’s not been easy at times BUT it hasn’t been hard because it hasn’t been every day or for too long that you’re exhausted and give up. Please just keep a little note that they do have a family to tend too. They may not walk in every day with the bests of attitudes.. Fat throughout my teens and miserable! Not as fat through my twenties as swinging between every diet under the sun, SW, WW, diet pills (yes I took them too at one point as I wanted to lose the weight fast!) Fat at 30! Well basically most of my 30s as I never made time to make my own health a priority as I was also juggling small children. At 40! Am I FAT at 40! Nope I made the decision that I was not going to be 40 and FAT! 14 months on and having turned 40 in April I am the fittest and strongest I have ever been. I am not taking diet pills I am not being shamed if I have gained weight as I am building a strong and lean body I am not going for the quick fix option Instead I am working out regularly I am fueling my body for good health (not just to lose weight) I am having a nutrient dense shake each day (don’t compare this to McDonald’s 😂) which is filling any nutrient gaps I may have, increasing my energy levels and reducing cravings making it easier to control my weight I am part of amazing accountability groups ensuring that I don’t fall off.... I don’t workout because I hate myself. I workout because I can and I want a fit and strong body so that I can do anything with the girls. A lot of my 30s were a blur as I just felt like I was surviving and not living. I had zero energy I struggled to get out of bed most days I hated everything about my body I had zero motivation to anything more than the basics I cried on a regular basis (behind closed doors and usually whilst stood in front of a mirror) But I just kept going...doing the same thing! And it was hard! The thing is I didn’t want to be FAT at 40 - I wanted to feel FAB! So I got to work on me On my mind and body! And I am loving it! Are you constantly feeling exhausted 😴 , bloated 😣and bleh😕? I feel you!• • For years I have dealt with major bloating and seriously struggling to stay awake at work. I knew it had to do with my eating habits (I eat breakfast at 5am and lunch at 10am so by the time I got home from work I would eat pretty much every carb or sweet in the house.) • • I had always heard to eat six small meals a day, but how impractical! Who has time for that?? 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️• • • YOU DO.• • Seriously, it can be so easy! I changed my eating habits recently and I have not only noticed a decrease in craving and exhaustion, but I’m not looking 6 months pregnant by the time I’m don’t with dinner. 🤰• So how do we realistically make this happen, a little bit of planning and prep! • • Here’s what my daily schedule looks like:• • 6 am • Breakfast- Overnight Oats 🌙(an easy and healthy grab and go option!) • 10 am • Lunch- Shake 🥛(a delish go to that saves my sweet cravings!)• • 1:00 pm • Snack- Greek Yogurt 🥣(Filling, low calorie, super helpful in balancing your gut health and the ph of you -ahem- lady parts)• • 3:30 pm• Snack- Fresh Fruits 🍓and a small handful of nuts 🥜(Easy to eat while prepping for tomorrow!)• • 6:00 pm • Dinner- Lean & Green 🥬( For dinner I usually eat a healthy meat with two veggie sides. Low or No carb sides like cauliflower rice make for filling meals that don’t make you bloated. I try to have half of my plate filled with veggies and watch out to keep my seasoning choices low in sodium!)• • • By spreading out my meals and planning ~quick~ snacks that I can eat at work I have made a much more balanced and healthy food routine. I’m not bingeing when I get home, eating out of boredom, or getting cravings. Working towards your goals during pregnancy is just as important, if not more important, as when you are not expecting. Goals may have to be adjusted and modifications will have to be made, but it doesn’t mean you quit! •Even though I had a healthy first pregnancy I still gained 50+ pounds & recovery was NOT what I expected. I was weak & uncertain if all of the baby weight would come off. As a new mom that is the last thing you want to worry about... but naturally you do. We want to feel good about ourselves & have confidence while we navigate this new chapter in our lives. •I made some important CHANGES this time around. Working out 4-6 times/week and having my superfoods instead of ice cream at night along with getting quality whole food ingredients. TOTAL GAME CHANGER! To close out pregnancy I am definitely looking forward to a new program starting January 14th. Workouts are ONLY 20 minutes but will keep your endurance and strength up. Mummy tummy tightener!🤰These are a few of my favourite core exercises to help tighten the postpartum pouch. • After having a baby we have to be kind to our bodies. They have just created and grown a little human 😍 we must take exceptional care of our core and pelvic floor. We have to stay clear of most traditional core exercises that put too much strain and pressure on our pelvic floors and weakened core muscles. • Start off off slowly, keep your back flat on the ground (press it down as firm as you can). If it lifts you’ve lost your core so stop, and rest or go back a stage. Breathe with your movements, move slow and with control. Think of your pelvic floor like a zip. Lock it on and pull up towards your head. Your pelvic floor is a muscle. The more you use it the stronger it will become. • Try this sequence: 20 of each movement. • No more sore back or heavy pelvic floor. Let’s suck in the pouch and tighten your stomach muscles. .
