Edward Steichen is one of my favorite photographers. I’m not a huge fan of fashion photography but the geometry and lines Steichen achieved are remarkable. A few months back I had the pleasure of seeing an exhibit on him at the Getty Center where I took this. . www.rscottelgramphotography.com . . #rscottelgramphotography #photography #photooftheday #nikonphotography #nikonshotz #art #nikonnofilter #dopeclickz #gettymuseum #gettycenter #fashion #fashionphotography #steichen #edwardsteichen #museumphotography #tribute #lines #geometry #light #mannequin #dress #vintage #vintagefashion #vintagedress

November 3rd, 2017. Vatican city, Italy. Love, love, looooovvveeee sunsets. And this one was much needed after hours of walking through the crowded halls of the Vatican museum... I swear to gawd I've never felt as claustrophobic as I did that day 🤕 Also... Can you spot the Creation of Adam in the third pic? 👀 #travelinspiration . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #sistinechapel #chapel #vatican #vaticancity #vaticanmuseum #museum #roma #Rome #Italy #Italia #sunset #pinksky #sky #views #photography #museumphotography #creationofadam #creation #tourism #tourist #travelblogger #followforfollowers #likeforlikes #comment #spamforspam #lovely #igdaily #pretty

⚔️✨🕯 . . . TLDR: Timing and Curveballs . . I’m constantly trying to figure out how to become a better artist, a better marketer, a better person… I don’t want to stand still and let time pass me by. I want to be well positioned to take action, just like how I was able to capture this picture. Photography is all about timing—framing, composition, lighting— those you can always control to a certain extent… But timing? How can you control external factors, the elements, other people? You can’t, that’s why timing is crucial in photography, being at the right spot, ready for action. . . My weekend of reflection led me to this, that the same applies to life, you can’t control external factors, you just have to be ready for action, regardless of what life throws at you…✨ . . Seems simple enough, but I’ve never felt ready, I guess you can never really be when life throws you curveball after curveball…All I can do is really take it one day at a time ♡ . . How was your weekend? 🙃 . . 📷 Taken @macmontreal during @_urbania’s event “URBANIA - Lancement du spécial extraordinaire 2018” reminds me a bit of a modern Romeo and Juliet at the balcony. Star-crossed lovers in the midst of golden light… . . The installation is called ‘Pulse Spiral’ (2008) by the artist #rafaellozanohemmer . . . . . . #vsco #moment #shotonmoment #positivevibes #positivity #goodvibes #balancingact #momentsofmine #theartofslowliving #myeverdaymagic #slowart #livebeautifully #november #theuniversehasyourback #weekend #romeoandjuliet #starcrossedlovers #lights #pulse #heartbeat #installation #artinstallation #alwayslookup #museum #exhibition #museumphotography #modernart #lovers

“Amygdala” by @calliefine_art Currently located at @wedgestudios in Asheville, NC. Her inspiration for this piece was her work with autistic children who led her to learn about this part of the brain. Interestingly enough, it is enlarged in people with autism, and to a lesser degree artists and art appreciators. 🧠

“Le Tournesol (The Sunflower” by Edward Steichen (1920). If you’ve never been to DC before, it’s worth it just to go to the National Gallery of Art and see incredible pieces like this one.

#maat 👏🏻 João Louro. Linguistic ground zero. A reproduction of ‘Little Boy’ – the first atomic bomb in history – with recorded messages, is simple and forceful: destruction, graffiti, poetic and written references come together, providing one of those moments in which art and artists carry out an exercise of complex thinking.

My experience at the CCHR in Atlanta was definitely inspiring. I became a teacher because I saw education as the only way to destabilize a system of racialized and class-based oppression. I was passionate about co-creating the tools with our youth that are necessary to deconstruct these systems, and encouraging this next generation of scholars, leaders, and activists to use the tools they create in their own ways to subvert cycles of oppression as they themselves come to identify them. Then, I actually started teaching and I learned that the real work is not a paper at Columbia. I get tired, stuff works my nerves on a daily basis, and the reality that whoever writes federal and state education policy and mandates has their head firmly implanted up their collective ass confronts me on a daily basis. But last Friday, God nudged me a little bit. I sat at the lunch counter exhibit at the CCHR, closed my eyes, and listened to a tape of the savage physical and verbal abuse that youth activists endured when they risked beatings and imprisonment to achieve basic access to public spaces. I watched footage of the bombings of the Freedom Riders as they rode through the South to protest segregation on public transportation. I read about how the sneakers on my feet came from the fingers of six year olds locked in sweatshops, stitching soles and laces until their hands bleed all for a meager ten cents an hour that they desperately need to contribute to their meals for the week. All over the world, all throughout history REAL activists sacrificed their safety, wellbeing, and existence for humanity’s collective progress. Who the hell am I to be so tired? I gotta pull my big girl panties up and keep pushing because there is a lot of work to do. 🥊👊🏼✊🏼✌🏼11.9.18
