Happy #travelthursday friends! Another incredible place for today’s post - this time the 19th century Igreja de São Nicolau, which sits in the tiny village of Sete Cidades on the island of São Miguel, in the Azores. I visited off season, but this time of year, the tree-lined walk up to the church is filled with gorgeous hydrangeas (in fact, they’re common all over the island). It’s on my list to go back when they’re in bloom.
The Azores, particularly São Miguel, is not on many people’s radars as a must-see, but I can’t encourage you enough to experience the natural wonder that is this archipelago. It’s an easy add on from Portugal, especially if you’re flying from North America. It’s a great stop-over and a few days here will certainly leave you wanting to return! Have you been? Or do you have any plans to go? Would love to hear about it below!
