It's been a rough week. Not going to lie about that. We had sick kids, spoiled plans, crazy irrational emotions (me), and lots of busyness knocking items off the to do list (Sam). In an effort to retain some sanity I dragged my kids out the door to run an errand in Grand Teton National Park. Since we were driving all the way over there we were going to hike, dang it.
I needed it. Desperately. There's something completely soothing about putting one step in front of the other down a trail. It's rythmic. With the breeze blowing through the pines and across our faces I finally started to unwind.
We rounded the corner after a big descent, and this view of Death Canyon opened up. I just stopped and drank it in like a tall glass of water.
I think I could have kept going forever. But when your kids are having trouble breathing because they've had colds all week sometimes it's not about me, even if I need it to be. Next time. Next time we'll hike to the top.
