This girl @laurleft ... I don't know how I got so lucky. We went out to Arches National Park this weekend (nobody crowds) because I wanted to just go take photos somewhere I haven't had enough time recently to shoot a whole lot. We slept in the parking lot in the back of our car for a couple of hours after arriving at around 11:00 pm. We wake up at 4 AM to hike into the arch which isn't a difficult or long hike. We get a little turned around on some slick rock hiking because it's dark but it doesn't delay us for long. We get to the arch around 5 AM and of course we are the only ones there. Probably the only ones for miles. It's cold. Probably only about 20 degrees when the wind isn't blowing. She looks at me and asks, "Sunrise is at 7:3.0?" I tell her that is correct and she just asks next what she can do to help me. For the next 4 hours I'm running around taking pictures, directing her where to go when I want her in a shot, and her going and finding refuge in a crack, wrapped up in this quilt to stay warm when she gets cold. She had to be miserable, but never once did she let on, and when she saw how happy I was taking pictures and getting so excited about it she let this smile slip onto her face that made the whole place glow all over again. I'm lucky to have someone who believes in me more than I believe in myself, but through her belief, makes me feel like I can do anything. Cheers to the next one Freddy.
