I was inspired this morning by one of the first things I saw on IG. It was a post from @openheartscanunite and it moved me. I wanted to post my version of the light being taken from friends that have lost theirs. And my desperation at trying to help and hold on...with no avail. Below are the words of @openheartscanunite I hope they move and inspire you as well. .
“Yesterday was world suicide prevention day. I have intentionally marked this a day late for all of the people who were a day too late to have their light turned back on. Only a few years ago I tried to turn off my lights forever… my daughter kept a light on for me unknowingly to her. But @supermomtraci and other friends were not so lucky, lights went out for their loved ones. The best way I can describe depression is “Depression is like a woman in black. If she turns up, don’t shoo her away. Invite her in, offer her a seat, treat her like a guest and listen to what she wants to say.” ~ Carl G. Jung
Sometimes you don’t want “love and light.” Sometimes you want “shadows and secrets.” It isn’t the sun you crave, but the moon. For all of those struggling, I want to say I do not know exactly what you are feeling, but I feel you. And today and every day, I will stand here for you in the dark until we can turn a light on.
For a star to be born there is one thing that must happen, a gaseous nebula must collapse. So collapse. Crumble. This is not your destruction. This is your birth.” #suicideawareness #youarenotalone #depression #bethelight #imissyou
