“WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING ~
While most Californian’s were fast asleep getting much-needed rest for the next day of work, I was willingly depriving myself of sleep, driving, hiking, and photographing a single lone oak tree in the dark of the night. Yes, I just might be a little crazy but I love astrophotography. My Quest to find a unique Lone Oak was a long journey that took Patience, Persistence, Planning, Practice, oh.... and a huge bit of luck catching a giant shooting star (Thanks God). To date, I’ve never sacrificed more sleep, I’ve never invested more time, never driven more miles, never expended more energy and effort as I did trying to capture and process this single image.
This image is a pano-stitch, and stacked for noise reduction and is a total of over 100 photos, 5 squares tall X 4 squares across
My good friend Chris Moe is on top of the hill with his arms up, you probably can’t see it but there’s also a swing hanging from this beautiful tree (zoom in). Truly stunning view, and hiding under that beautiful blanket of clouds is the vast pacific ocean. The cherry on top is the incredible shooting star. It’s the biggest shooting star I’ve seen all year and the chances of capturing it right above the tree are incredibly slim. It felt like God was giving me a little wink for my efforts. I hope you enjoy our creators beautiful work and this photo as well.
