Why do we do what we do? Why do YOU do what you do? That is today's topic in the @’s Instagram challenge.
Our mission here at @ has always been to offer a unique photography experience for families and couples by providing candid, intimate and emotive images with a thoughtful heart and creative vision.
The reason that we have crafted that mission goes back to the inspiration behind our entire business -- our own family.
My grandfather always had a camera or video recorder in hand when I was growing up. It was not something that we took notice of because it was embedded in the way we lived. But what we didn't realize was how important this documentation was until we were all much older.
Now, we often spend hours sifting through old photographs and watching home movies, reminiscing about the fun we had and the trouble we all got into, and this need for nostalgia and moments captured inspired me to pick up my first DSLR to begin documenting my own children's lives.
From there, friends reached out asking if I would consider documenting theirs, and @ grew rather organically.
While much about the ways in which we run our business has changed, what hasn't ever changed are the mission and values behind our business.
And this year, we long to make fleeting moments permanent for more families and couples (and not just those engaged or getting married -- we're looking at you, anniversary celebrators!). Because as we've shared before, photography has given us the opportunity to freeze time. Moments pass us by, but we get the unique opportunity to decide (as @ so eloquently puts it), "Not this one. This one stays."
