Deep in the #reeds , A #prehistoric looking bird waits, Treading so cautiously with every few steps it takes. #prey is spotted lurking in the shallows, Catching the attention of the beady eyed #predator , In seconds its all over, As the Grey Heron retrieves it's well deserved morsel. A poem i came up with from the #inspiration of watching a Heron down at Paxton Pits today. - @bbcspringwatch #winterwatch @rspb_love_nature @thewildlifetrusts #rspb #paxtonpits #greyheron #poems #nikon #nikonphotography #nikond5300 #wildlife #nature #bird #wildlifephotography #naturephotography #birdphotography #newnaturemagazine #britishbirds #bird_brilliance

Photo by @jmnaturephotos // Instagram Takeover Final Day⠀ ⠀ Thanks everyone who supported my instagram takeover this week, please check out my instagram page for more photos. My final photo this week is of an Oystercatcher foraging on Deganwy Beach during the summer. Looking up what bird this was when photographing it I discovered they can live for up to 40 years, which means this bird could be older than me! ⠀ ⠀ Keep appreciating nature everyone!

Photo by @jmnaturephotos // Instagram Takeover Day 5⠀ ⠀ A weekend hike up Moel Famau is always a great place to take photos of the beautiful scenery in Wales. This photo depicts some of the the views we had from the top of Moel Famau, the highest hill within the Clwydian Range.

Photo by @jmnaturephotos // Instagram Takeover Day 4⠀ ⠀ During the Autumn and Winter Starlings gather in Aberystwyth to roost under the pier. We traveled down this year hoping to catch a glimpse of them and a few hours before sunset they started to appear as they slowly made their way towards the pier to roost in the evening. The next day we came out an hour before sunrise and waited for them to emerge, you could hear their songs under the pier and a few hours after sunrise without notice they all exited in one huge gathering.

Photo by @jmnaturephotos // Instagram Takeover Day 3⠀ ⠀ Whilst visiting Dinorwic Quarry in Llanberis I came across two Feral goats stood looking over the edge of the mountain. These goats moved with such ease over the slate that covers the quarry. Later in the day we witnessed the goats being chased by a dog which created a stampede as slate tumbled down the mountain not one of them lost their footing as they ran.

Photo by @jmnaturephotos // Instagram Takeover Day 2⠀ ⠀ In this month's new nature magazine Alienor Hammer talks about the quest for nature in South London, this led me to think about my recent trip to London where finding nature in the hustle and bustle took me to Camley Street Natural Park, here I captured this Heron hiding amongst the long grass.

Photo by @jmnaturephotos / Travelling the UK photographing wildlife and Landscapes / Instagram Takeover.⠀ ⠀ From a recent trip to Cumbria I photographed this male common Chaffinch perched on a branch after having a morning meal. These birds are some of the most common bird species in the UK and the most colourful. The males typically have two or three different song types and are found to have regional accents. In winter female European Chaffinches migrate to Britain and the male's remain.
