The 5th Annual De la Gente Coffee Congress took place last week. On the first day ten farmers, two from each DLG’s partner cooperative, traveled to Guatemala City to visit @dinamicaspecialty - a reputable coffee exporter. This family-owned and run business already helped ship a part of De la Gente coffee out of Guatemala this year and from this coming harvest they will be assuming a greater role in exporting our beans. This means a big change for our partner cooperatives and we wanted to make the transition as smooth as possible. The visit served as a chance to put a face to a name, as well as an opportunity for the co-op representatives to learn about how their coffee will be processed and shipped. After a presentation explaining the intricacies of exporting and an open forum Q&A, we were given a tour of the facilities. From the processing equipment to the quality control lab, we saw everything!
The organization of the event was possible thanks to our generous supporters whose donations covered all the costs of the congress. Thank you so much on behalf of the participating farmers!
