Havana is alive with stories needing to be told. While walking the streets you are visually assaulted by an array of subjects that inspire your creativity, but it is the people here that inspire your soul. Theirs is the most compelling story. I find myself searching each passing face, especially older ones, for answers. What have they seen? What have they endured? What, and who, have they lost? The history of Cuba is a volatile one. Generations have experienced upheaval, corruption, and oppression yet, it seems, in every face there remains a sense of warmth and optimism that belies the conditions. I walk and my heart is heavy from what I look at, but my soul is uplifted by the strength that I see.
