Popular and high in demand--Chiu Chow "Lou Siu Ap" (SWATOW Duck) that had been marinated for a day in advance so that you can taste that savoury "Lou Siu" sauce drenched in the duck meat and skin. Delicious eaten by itself or when accompanied with that sweeet-vinegary garlic dipping sauce, over rice, to balance out the flavours. Heads up that you should always preorder/reserve this dish a few days in advance at authentic and newly opened Chiu Chow restaurant @goldenisland_yyc as they sell out fast if you don't. (One night my dropped by for supper on a weekday night, thinking they wouldn't be busy, and we didn't reserve it like we normally do, and they had run out of duck). For a small party of 1-3, your can order quarter of a duck. For medium sized parties of 4-8, half of a duck is fine. And for parties of 9-14, a full duck is recommended for the larger table.

•Banana cake• Ingredients: 1 c butter 1 c sugar 1 c mashed bananas 2 eggs 1 tsp vanilla 5 tbsp buttermilk 1 3/4 c flour 2/3 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt ~for the frosting~ 8 oz cream cheese 6 tbsp butter 3 c powdered sugar 1 tsp vanilla Chopped walnuts Method: 1. Cream the butter and sugar. 2. Add the eggs and bananas. 3. Add the dry ingredients. 4. Add the buttermilk and vanilla. 5. Spread into 9” round baking tins and bake for 25 minutes at 350 degrees. 6. Batata recheada com gorgonzola Você pode deixar as batatas recheadas prontas com antecedência e só colocar para gratinar quando a sua visita chegar, assim você pode curtir os amigos com tranquilidade. Ingredientes: 2 batatas grandes 80g de queijo gorgonzola 2 colheres de creme de ricota Sal grosso Pimenta Modo de fazer: Lave muito bem as batatas, arrume-as sobre um pedaço de papel alumínio, polvilhe um pouco de sal grosso, feche bem o papel alumínio e leve ao forno por aproximadamente 40 minutos. Assim a que batata estiver macia, retire do forno, descarte o papel alumínio e com cuidado para não se queimar, corte as batatas ao meio. Retire parte da polpa, mantendo uma parede. Coloque a polpa retirada em um prato, adicione a o queijo gorgonzola e amasse com um garfo, adicione o creme de ricota e misture bem. Recheie as batatas com a mistura, moa um pouco de pimenta, polvilhe o parmesão e leve ao forno o tempo suficiente para aquecer e gratinar o queijo.
