We did something every day while we were in the Everglades. So when it came time to visit Brad’s grandparents, we thought we might have some downtime. Boy, were we wrong. They kept us busy for 7 solid days. 😋 We aren’t complaining! We had an amazing time with them!!!
Here are some of the highlights:
➵ We all went to Bingo at the clubhouse where Brad’s grandparents live. I won a game and Brad won 3. I guess this is pretty rare, because we were sure getting some harsh looks from the other residents. One little lady even said under her breath, “Let us know when your grandson is coming, so I can stay home.” Even though it was all in good fun, we joked that we might get jumped in the parking lot or chased by a golf cart.
➵ The next day was Thanksgiving and we went back to the clubhouse and joined everyone for a big dinner. We are really close with our families, so this would have been the first holiday away from them. We are so thankful that we still got to share it with beloved family. No homesickness for us, because with them, we were home.
➵ While we were there, we decided to work on getting some used bikes. We got lucky with some great finds within their neighborhood and we did some thrift shopping, as well. (see the Indian poem we came across) We used our bingo money to get a bike. 🙌
➵ Most nights were game nights. This is a big thing in Brad’s family and I happily join in on the playful competition.
➵ Lastly, Brad’s grandparents treated us to a unique experience. There’s an area nearby that is known for having friendly Scrub Jays. This experience, along with the time we spent with them is something we will never forget!!
