Sydney’s future of ice sports is under threat.. Let’s continue the support: Sign the petition to save Macquarie Ice Rink from a downsize and a possible closure. Sydney’s future of ice sports is literally on thin ice!! 2014: After an appointment nearby the Macquarie Centre to manage by depression, I discovered a gem so rare in the Australian Shopping Centre Scape: An ice Rink within... and fell in love so much I took lessons in 2015 and continue my passion by having a weekly skate. (Pics are from 2014-15, before the rink’s renovation)
Peoples: Please hit that link in my bio and sign the petition. Glad to see the support and love for Macquarie so far in the thousands 💝
I have received distressing news that AMP Capital who own Macquarie Centre in North Ryde has decided to terminate the rink’s lease as of the 31st of January 2020, or at the very least replace with a recreational size synthetic rink which is not the same, just delaying the demolition got some relief but we cannot give up!! 2017 marked the completion of a multi-million dollar renovation, and now it will go to waste if we let AMP Captital take control.
Let us support this amazing rink and the effort of the staff, coaches and all levels/disciplines of skaters who call this place home, going for the sake of retail greed and a transport interchange.. Figure skating is my happy place and with the loss of Blacktown Ice Arena in 2007 and the recent closure of Sydney Ice Arena in 2017, it only helped destroy ice sports bit by bit!! Cricket and football is not for everyone peoples! 🤬😡👎🏼 @ ⛸🥌🏒
