We have a fundamental desire for control. The pursuit of the perception of being able to achieve desirable goals and,on the other hand, avoid the undesirable, is very different among cultures and even individuals. How we experience loss of control however, is up to the individual. We can either perceive it as a threat or as a challenge. I chose to perceive my chronic condition as a challenge. I adjusted my training load, added Yoga 🧘♀️ and most importantly changed my cognitive evaluation of the situation from “why me?” to “it could be worse”💪👍. Whatever life throws at you, it depends on how you perceive the situation! You are in control to view it (whatever “it” is for you) as a challenge, rather than a threat!
