Sometimes as women we rush round trying to please others in our life, draining ourselves in the process. And especially at this time of year when there is lots to do, Christmas shopping, decorating the house, visiting relatives & making sure everyone is ok............. Take stock!! Do what is best for you, practice self care & nurturing. Make some time for you, eat well, exercise & rest well. Take care of yourself first, then you can take care of others. 😁👍🏼😘🎄😊🙏 .......... #aip #aipprotocol #autoimmune #autoimmunedisease #hashimotos #hashimotosdisease #paleo #paleouk #paleorecipes #aiprecipes #underactivethyroid #hypothyroidism #health #healthylifestyle #perniciousanaemia #perniciousanemia #urticaria #hives #chronicdisease #guthealth #b12deficiency #adrenalfatigue #autoimmunedisorder #nutritionaltherapy #nutritionaltherapystudent

Having time to prepare simple skillet lunches like this is one of my favorite parts of my nutritional therapy practice! 👩🏻‍🍳 I’ve always loved to cook and creating recipes has long been one of my greatest passions ☺️ Right now, most of my days are spent on the computer either writing new recipes, working on my website or catching up on emails. I’m really looking forward to growing my client list in 2019, which means spending more time working one on one with clients to help them achieve the balance they are looking. Whether you‘re looking to increase energy, lose weight, or simply feel BETTER mentally and physically, I am here for you ❤️ from helping you identify personal triggers to making grocery lists and providing recipes, I can help keep you encouraged, accountable and energized for all that next year has in store! If you have any questions about the process or want to schedule a complimentary 30-minute phone call, shoot me a message or email! . . . #whatsinmybowl ➡️ 1 cup frozen cauliflower rice (I love the bulk bags from Costco!) sautéed in toasted sesame oil with a little onion, garlic, red pepper and coconut aminos (an awesome soy sauce alternative and super source of minerals!) i then made a little basket in the center of the cast iron skillet for an egg. Top with everything but the bagel seasoning (@traderjoes) and scramble it in with the rest of the veggies! Add in a little salt to taste if you wish and wa-la! This would also make a great dinner with pastured chicken or grass-fed beef!

🍋 LEMONS 🍋 . When life gives you lemons, do you make lemonade? . Do it! Just don’t add the sugar. Lemons help stimulate gastric juices and help digestion. . I drink nearly 80 ounces of water daily. Each morning I squeeze half a fresh lemon and a few pinches of sea salt into my water (into a 40 oz bottle). Plain filtered water the rest of the day. . I’m addicted. The sea salt provides your body electrolytes and helps your body absorb the water you’re drinking. . Lemons can be considered a cleanser, purifier, rejuvenator and detoxifier, especially for the liver. . I’ll talk more about sea salt later. These lemons are a wonderful thing AND they are in season . #lemons #hydration #detox #seasalt #makelemonadeoutoflemons #digestionaid #empowernourishheal #nutritionaltherapy #nutritionaltherapystudent

Have you ever wondered what the true cost of buying the "cheapest" version of everything? Today's toxic world is a huge threat to male and female fertility, vitality and hormonal health all life long. We live in a world where the incidence of chronic illness in children is markedly rising. We have to start budgeting with a long-term multi-generational mindset. What does responsible, family-friendly and fertility-friendly budgeting bring up for you?

A Low Histamine Diet & AIP is tough & I am still trying to get my head around it. I’ve noticed different advice with different resources, so I guess you have to work out what works & doesn’t work for you. 😁👌🏼 .......... I have been busy with trialing low histamine recipes & omitting the high histamine content in the existing AIP recipes that I use. It’s not been easy & most of it has not been Instagram worthy. But I’m getting there & will post my 5 day low histamine & AIP meal plan soon 🥘🥕🥦🍠🥒🍎🍉 .......... The funny thing about people calling pseudoscience the traditional and natural medicines, is that they don't understand science and mostly don't have a scientific background. #Repost @plaskettnutrition (@get_repost) ・・・ *** STUDENT SPOTLIGHT *** Introducing Emma! Emma is incredibly passionate about all things nutrition and health and having started with the Nutrition & Health certificate, she progressed onto the Nutritional Therapy and Iridology courses. Here she kindly answers some questions about her studies with us: 1. Why did you choose the Plaskett College? I liked that the founder Dr. Plaskett was a doctor in Biochemistry. My background is in science and I wanted to study both the biochemical and the holistic sides of nutrition. 2. Which course(s) are you studying and why? I studied the Health and Nutrition certificate first to see if what it was taught matched my believes and because I was certifying as a Health coach at the same time and working full time. At the end of that certificate and already working as a Health coach I decided to pursue my studies with Plaskett college to become a Nutritional therapist. For that, I am studying Nutritional medicine and Iridology. 3. How would you describe your study experience to date? I am happy to have a mentor to answer my doubts, and get my assignments reviewed. I like the flexibility they gave me to complete my first certificate.I love the subjects and the way is explained, I also like having some videos of Dr. Plaskett teaching Iridology, as I admire him. 4. What changes have you already implemented as a result of what you have learned? During the Health & Nutrition certificate I learnt already about supplements. Now I know which type is best and most absorbable by our body, and the combinations to keep minerals in balance. Thus, I am more confident when I choose supplements for me and my family. Yes. It’s true! # ➖Cholesterol is NOT bad. # ➖Eat. The. Yolk!! # ➖If you’re still avoiding the yolk, you’re missing out on so many good nutrients, including cholesterol # ➖In fact, if you have high cholesterol, it means there’s something deeper going on that needs to be investigated # ➖Cholesterol (along with saturated fats & lipoproteins) is actually there to help repair damage (responding to damage not causing it) # ➖Cholesterol is critical for proper brain function # ➖Low cholesterol levels are linked with depression and violent behavior # ➖Cholesterol levels increase naturally and gradually w age. # ➖Levels will vary with stress, time of day, fasting/non-fasting. # ➖For women of all ages and the elderly, higher cholesterol is associated with a longer lifespan. # ➖Could those statin drugs really be a dis-service?? # #cholesterolisgoodforyou #cholesterol #nutritionaltherapy #nutritionaltherapyassociation #nutritionaltherapystudent #empowernourishheal #eattheyolk #eatcholesterol #cholesterolfightstorepair

We live in a culture that conditions us to look for easy answers and quick fixes. But the easy answers are usually not the right answers, and the quick fixes usually don't fix anything. You want to know what is powerful? The ability of nutrition and lifestyle to affect our genetic expression at any point in life, from preconception through old age. That's epigenetics. And to me, the most amazing example of epigenetics at work is seeing the results of individualized nutrition and lifestyle changes on fertility. It's an amazing privilege to work with couples during the pre-conception period, and truly awesome to realize that the nutrition and lifestyle changes these wonderful couples make not only help them optimize their fertility and in many cases overcome a history of infertility and miscarriage. By working epigenetically, we are positively influencing that baby's lifelong health, and the generations still to come, before that baby is even conceived. I get goose bumps every time I think about this!

Prepping for my first practice client. Nervous and excited all at the same time! * It’s fascinating to learn how everything is so connected in the body. One piece cannot function without others. * You can’t treat weight loss with “eat less!” “Workout more!” “Watch your calories!” * It works on such a deeper level...which is what I’m learning and what I hope to teach others. #nutritionaltherapy #nutritionaltherapyassociation #nutritionaltherapystudent #signsandsymptoms #functionalholisticnutrition #lingualneurotesting #empowernourishheal

Ive said it before and I'll say it again, there isn't a one-size-fits all approach.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As you all know, I have been super biz with my head burrowed in books since September. And one common dominator that keeps popping up is the bio-individuality piece.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Ever since my chronic dieting days, I was on a constant and never ending quest to discover the 'god' of all diets, that would fix all my issues, and my weight problem too.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We are living breathing specimens that are evolving every single day. We will go so many various different life stages in our lives that requires a modification to the way we fuel and nourish ourselves. So really, one diet isn't going to suit us forever! For example our stomach acid decreases with age, so its not uncommon to supplement with HCI to supportive your digestion to ensure your digesting nutrients from foods efficiently #digestionhealth⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I know not everyone is going to be a health nerd like me, which is why I am so passionate about becoming a #nutritionaltherapypractitioner so I can educate, support, inspire, guide and enhance others health. I am passionate about supporting others to get back in touch with their body (just like I did) and help craft a personalised nutrition that will support and meet YOUR nutritional needs. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ My approach will still include an emotional element, along with nutritional and biochemicial, because lets face it, for most people its not a lack of knowledge that leads them to polish off a tub of Ben & Jerrys. No one does that thinking they are going to feeling amazing afterwards.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Anyhoo, I'm a little nervous and excited at the same time about attending my first 3 day clinical workshop down in Melbourne in a couple of weeks! So much more to come and share with you guys, I cannot wait! #watchthisspace👀☺️⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ---- ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #healingwithrealfood #wholefoodnutrition #ancestralnutrition #sydneyholistichealth #nutritionistinthemaking #functionalnutrition #foodasmedicine #nutritionaltherapystudent

Happy Hump Day lovelies!! 😁 * * Keeping organised between work, study & motherhood is hard & i am far from perfect but we are trying, with a little bit more planning & organisation we'll get there...one day 🤔😂 * * Anyway, batch cooking is our lifeline & keeps us from eating on the go too much (not always!) Yesterday's lunch was left over veggie curry & a cheeky naan 👍 was the perfect winter warmer. * * How do you prepare for the week ahead when it comes to meals? Do you plan or do you just wing it like we've been doing? Love to hear your thoughts!!

This has been incredibly true for me this year. Last year was meh, I realized I needed to figure out more about ME. • January 1, my TV completely died. What do I do?!? 🙀 • I went for a walk in the cold weather, sat on a bench & meditated. Meditating in public, who am I?!? Something I was completely uncomfortable doing in public (still not comfortable) • Meditating that day & really sitting with the fact that I had to live without my TV (haha!), I decided to create goals for life, work & health for the FIRST TIME. EVER. • Sounds fricking crazy but it’s true. I sat down, w/the help of @dianesanfilippo and @realfoodliz Balanced Bites Master Class guide and wrote down goals. • I was about to turn 40 and didn’t truly feel satisfied w/my life or ready for this big milestone. It seemed like this huge dark cloud over me. I wanted to BE ABLE to turn 40. • 3 things came out of that day: *Start a gratitude journal* every day I sit down & write what I’m thankful for. It can be very small or something huge. Some days (the harder days) it’s small (warm shower, my gorgeous drive to work or my comfy bed). Other days it’s super easy. But every night before I go to bed, I write something down. *Try something new each month* this also could be something small or large. As simple as volunteering, meditating in public, starting a gratitude journal, going to a book signing, giving blood, etc. *Finally -start the BB Master Class* (purchased a year prior but...LIFE) to find out if this holistic nutrition stuff was my jam. I actually didn’t completely finish the program, but all 3 of these things brought me to where I am today. • The first two really created my current happiness and fulfillment in life. I was trying new things, making my life feel more meaningful. I am appreciating all the things, small and large. And now I’m starting this journey that I know will change my life and hoping to change many others. •Thanks @tessemaes for posting this, it really spoke to me and made me reflect on this last year and how it got me where I am. • I hope you all find gratitude in each day, big or small. It can truly change your attitude and happiness in this big world. ❤️

☆BREAKFAST☆ I try to hit 10 portions of vegetables and fruit a day, the easiest way I find is to add a side of stir fry veg or a salad to any meal of the day or as I posted about ages ago I have such a big appetite I sometimes have a huge portion of stir fry veg as a snack. . . . Protein and Fat take longer to digest so are more filling and blood sugar balancing but for me it's more satisfying to eat for longer, and eat as many micronutrients and phytonutrients as possible while ensuring my main meals include protein and Fat . . . If your out and about or working in an office this side of stirfry veg could also be cucumber sticks, carrot sticks, pepper sticks chopped up or an apple, some berries to add a nice nutritious boost to your meals. This meal had 2 eggs, 1 whole grain toast, 1 leek, 2 peppers, half a bag of spinach (some was left in the wok so I could take a neat picture 😂) . . . . #everylittlehelps #micronutrients #phytonutrients #immunesupport #coldandfluseason #satisfaction #filling #nutrition #nutritionandlifestylecoach #nutritionaltherapystudent #student #coach #healthcoach

Hidden vegetable truffles anyone? These chocolate & spiced beetroot truffles are made from 5 ingredients (4 if you only use one spice) and take under 10mins prep time followed by a few hours chilling then rolling. 85% dark chocolate, pureéd cooked beetroot, double cream, cinnamon & allspice. That’s it! These were taken from @_sarahwilson_ #simpilicious • I’ve made a big batch of these to be stashed in the freezer ready to pull out for a treat in the next few months. As you may have seen on my stories, this weekend we took a trip into Hackney for a spot of exciting shopping (if you haven’t seen it go look now - so much prettiness 😍) and accidentally discovered this gem of a café. @wellstreetkitchen served us some delicious eggs on toast (mine with salmon, his with avo, feta & dukkah) followed by a bucket of tea. And they get extra brownie points from me for serving proper loose leaf tea in a pot. Highly recommended if you’re in the area (their beetroot, apple & carrot juice was also 👌🏻) • I’ve recently starting seeing a Nutritional Therapist at @ion_nutrition and despite being an NT student myself & ‘knowing better’ about eating a healthy balanced diet having some of the weaker areas in my diet reflected back to me has been a real eye opener. In particular my lack of essential fatty acids (EFA). What are EFAs you may ask? Long story short they are essential (meaning we can’t make them in our bodies ourself & must obtain them from diet) so I’ve been challenged to try & up my EFA level using a food first approach (to avoid supplements in the first instance). Which means more oily fish like salmon, mackerel & sardines or if you’re vegan chia seeds, flax seeds & hemp. • So far so good but I’ve definitely had to make some conscious swaps when meal planning. EFAs are really important for cell membrane health & for sex hormone health, so think: skin & menstrual cycle. Two weeks in & I’m already seeing a big difference in my skin & reduction in PMS☺️🐟 if the food first approach doesn’t work then I’ll try supplementing (@barebiology is the brand I’ve used before & go back to as & when I need to - they are brilliant). Aside from smoked salmon, any oily fish recipes you recommend I try out in the next few weeks? I’m open to ideas... • #wellstreetkitchen #smokedsalmon #eggsontoached #avotoast #poachedggswithavo #hackneycafes #crystalshopping #smokedsalmon #efa #essentialfattyacids #howtoeatmoreefas #recipeideas #veganoptions #oilyfish #ntstudent #nutritionaltherapist #nutritionaltherapystudent #ion #barebiology

The truth about these scrambled eggs with toast, hummus, tomato and spinach 👩‍🔬. . This was not an intentional decision to go meat free. . There's real butter in the eggs 🙈. . It's over 450 calories. 18g of which are FAT 😲. . It took longer to write this post then make this breakfast 🍳. . There's very very little sugar on this plate. 🍥 . This meal accounts for just over a third of my 'recommended' protein for the day. 🤔 . The Happy Pear hummus is life. . The eggs, tomato and spinach are organic. 🌱 . It was f**king delicious. 🍓💞 . I'm now into my third and final year of nutritional therapy and I'm finding myself under pressure to define my food beliefs. I'm exploring so many points of view, science and evidence behind food protocols, cultural diet patterns, ayurvedic practices..... and it feels like I'm having to choose a food religion so I fit cleanly into the world of nutritional care. Where I'm at right now on my journey to become a health practitioner is that it's individual - the plan, the person and the predicament. We eat to stay alive, we eat for enjoyment, we eat as a way of celebrating moments, we eat to heal, we eat to compete, we eat to nourish new life. Choosing what's 'right' is largely dependant on where you're at today and where you want your mind and body to be in the future. . What I do believe is organic, real, whole food is better for our body and taste buds than fake manufactured products. Enjoyed a lovely meal out with friends last evening at The Yard, Chester. They were so accommodating of my dietary needs. I had pan fried sea bass with vegetables. It was absolutely delicious 😋 .... #aip #aipprotocol #autoimmune #autoimmunedisease #hashimotos #hashimotosdisease #paleo #paleouk #paleorecipes #aiprecipes #underactivethyroid #hypothyroidism #health #healthylifestyle #perniciousanaemia #perniciousanemia #urticaria #hives #chronicdisease #guthealth #b12deficiency #adrenalfatigue #autoimmunedisorder #nutritionaltherapy #nutritionaltherapystudent

I'm feeling amazed, blessed, and incredibly loved. My nutritional therapy finals are one week from tomorrow and a sweet friend just brought me food so I can rest, get over my cold, and study. I'm so thankful for the incredible cheerleaders God has put in my life. Thank you @ruthhugneff for making this final stretch feel much more doable. #feelingsoveryloved #nutritionaltherapystudent #justoneweektogo
