I felt it very big and it looked ugly when I wore shorts. I always wanted to get rid of the muscles! . I finally got my freedom when I started working out. I built my thighs and when they got bigger, it made my calves look smaller and look perfect in my eyes. I'm so glad that I never did anything to my calves. . If you feel uncomfortable in your own skin, either you are too fat, too skinny, got no curves, you can change all that with exercises. . Too fat = good diet + good workout plan . ✨Welcome to The Gili Islands✨ . Stop 1: Gili Air There is magic in this island I'm telling you. Firstly, it's HOT here and I mean HOT, even the sea is hotter than most baths I've had, not exactly refreshing but it's a cool experience to swim in natural hot water! ~There's no motorised transport on the island so it's very quiet and clean ~There's no people here, you can walk for miles down the white sand beach and not meet anyone and don't be surprised if you're eating in the restaurant alone! ~There's no police here so the restaurants will casually offer you magic mushrooms ~You'll have at least a thunderstorm a day (The kind so Loud you have to think is it thunder or an earthquake?) ~Despite being such a remote island, the vegan options are great and there's a few great health food places! ~The snorkelling is amazing, there's coral reefs, rainbow fish and sea turtles to swim with 😍 (epic) ~Unlike Bali, we haven't seen a single dog on the island?? Cats are everywhere tho. ~Shells. The beaches wash up the most beautiful, mermaid-esque shells, I could collect them for hours 🐚 ~You can walk the entire island in less than an hour 🚶🏻‍♀️ . Don't know how I'll ever leave 😌💭

Do you need to eat for two during pregnancy?🤰// MYTH! . Yes, you are your growing baby's sole source of nutrition, but (surprisingly) it does take an additional 1600-2000 calories per day? . 🤔 Many women use pregnancy as an excuse to overeat when the truth is only a slight calorie increase is needed during the second and third trimesters. . 🌿 It’s more important to eat until you are satisfied; this is generally still not a time when you need to count calories! (thank goodness 🙏🏼) . During pregnancy our needs do increase for several nutrients but they don’t *double* . Here is an example of spaghetti: instead of eating two portions. Opt for a large side salad to accompany your pasta meal! . Another simple change is to use pulse based pasta to increase your intake of vitamins/minerals, and only slightly increase calories, and help with healthy weight gain during pregnancy! . One of the worst things that can happen and ruin a trip is getting sick during your travels. 
Someone who can tell you ALL about that is my twin brother (photo of him currently travelling)! He does a fair bit of travelling and even though he doesn’t like to admit it, E-V-E-R-Y trip he falls sick with something. I always hit him up about it; “your not looking after yourself”. It got to a point where he felt he had to lie, 🙅🏻‍♂️”I haven’t been sick in ages!” A week after, I visit my parents and mum tells me “Geoffs health is not the best, you should talk to him about it, last month when he came home he was bedridden with a cold the whole visit.” … *grabbed my phone 🙎🏻‍♀️ “You are such a liar!” … 
Anyway, his last overseas trip he was hospitalised for 2 weeks after spending 2 weeks in South East Asia. That was when he finally accepted that his immunity and detoxification system wasn’t the best!

He’s doing a bit of an overseas stint at the moment and just bought a one way ticket so who knows how long he will be away for. Knowing his history of travel sickness, this long trip was concerning for me and my family, especially because he’s going to a bunch of places with exceptionally poor hygiene. And SO … I stocked him up with some probiotic, herbal and nutritional supplements that would optimise his immunity and health. 
He’s been away for 1 month now travelling from NZ to Malaysia, Taiwan, China & India. Then he’s going to Nepal, Kenya & South America is likely to follow. Even though it’s only been a fraction of his travel, I can tell you that, usual scenario, he would have fallen sick by now. But he’s been in order all this time and the worst days have just been furry friends triggering his allergies. 
I was super glad yesterday when he told me that he hadn’t been sick (this time he wouldn’t lie, because if he did get sick he would tell me that what I gave him didn’t work haha 🤦🏻‍♀️). I’m meeting him in Nepal in just over a month so will be stocking him up with these happy travelling supplements!

This is a phrase I have been using with myself lately (mostly so I don’t drive myself crazy with all of the ridiculous misinformation I see in the world!!🙈) 💕 . . I talked about this recently on one of my Instagram stories. 📲 Sometimes it can be so difficult when you are around people who are not in the same place with their relationship with food & body as you are. This can even be triggering to your own progress. Especially with Thanksgiving coming up, you may experience more situations like this than you would prefer. 🍽 We can’t seem to even escape diet talk when we’re trying to eat our pumpkin pie in peace! 🥧 . . So something I have started repeating to myself is “good for them, not for me.” As much as I would love for everyone to embrace Intuitive Eating and the messages of HAES, I also have to remind myself that I didn’t get to my current place in life over night or over one conversation. So I can’t expect everyone around me to “get it” either. We are all on our own journeys. . . Give yourself some space when you need it and remind yourself of these things! 💕 . . Eat the damn cookie 🍪 and enjoy it! Since being back from vacation, I've noticed some weight changes - our trip involved a lot of driving and eating but not a ton of moving. The joys of living in a diet and weight focused culture means that I've been feeling uncomfortable with my weight. As you can see, even some of us dietitians experience these weight focused thoughts. This week, I've taken a step back and realized how hyper focused I've been on how I've been eating. I was selective of what I ate, avoided treats and was trying to fit in exercise for the sole purpose of getting my weight on track. Final exams are over and there’s only one more semester to go until I’m a fully-qualified Dietitian yayyy! 📚🌿🎉 - I’m honestly so glad I chose to study Dietetics. Admittingly, I used to think everyone should eat kale, avoid foods with added sugars, and eat only wholegrains in order to be “healthy”. I certainly used to view foods as “good” and “bad”, however thankfully I now have trouble justifying what makes a food so inherently “bad” when consumed in moderation. - This year has taught me that when it comes to nutrition and health, context is absolutely EVERYTHING. You simply cannot give a blanket approach to eating such as “more fruits and vegetables, low-fat dairy, legumes, nuts, lean meats, wholegrains”, because believe it or not... EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT! In fact, some individuals have genetic disorders where they CAN’T eat any high-protein containing foods otherwise they may suffer severe neurological impairment and die. Some people can’t eat plenty of fruits and vegetables because they contain too much potassium for their renal conditions. Some people are intolerant to amines and salicylates, so they CAN’T eat a bunch of broccoli or spinach. People can have allergies, intolerances, neurological conditions, endocrine disorders, metabolic disorders, cancer and/or be suffering from disease and this is WHY when it comes to nutrition, everyone needs to be treated individually. With these genetic differences, people also have different lifestyle, health and performance GOALS, which need to be treated appropriately and on a case-by-case basis. - For example, it’s OKAY to recommend someone drink more fruit juice and put extra peanut butter and jelly on their (shock-horror) white bread sandwich if they’re struggling to gain weight. Furthermore, someone who is suffering from cancer and has no appetite is going to experience malnutrition and fatal consequences A LOT SOONER if they eat absolutely nothing compared to if they eat chocolate cake. - Nutrition is complex. There is no “perfect diet”. The food you choose to put into your body needs to ensure optimal health, sustainability, and happiness for YOU.💚 Please remember that 🌿✅
