“They tried to bury us. They didn’t know we were seeds.” Listening to the speakers at the women’s march rally, you could feel the strength, conviction, and persistence in each of their voices. Fighting their own battles, as well as; the battles of others, one common message they all have is “if one of us is oppressed, we all are oppressed.” The women’s march is so much more than a march for women. It’s a march for equality regardless of age, race, gender, sexual preference, socioeconomic class, etc. This message can be seen by the diversity of the crowd marching together. The time is now to welcome diversity, love, and understanding into your life. We don’t all have to have the same background or ideals to stand in respect and solidarity together. When a community bands together to embrace our differences, then we become a stronger, undivided community. I want to continue to cultivate a community that is inclusive to everyone!
I know not everyone is understanding or accepting of these ideals or practices, but I refuse to shame you for your differences of opinion. Instead, I’ll offer an ear to listen, a heart that is open, and a hand to offer when you’re ready to find common ground. I’m grounded in my beliefs but, that doesn’t mean I want your voice to be taken away. Feel free to leave a comment below and tell me what you believe in, what you stand for. Please be respectful and have an open mind to listen to the community around you. .
