This is an organic orange. It shouldn’t have to be “organic”. It should simply have adjectives such as: orange, juicy, sweet, tasty, healthy, and refreshing. It should not HAVE to be labeled organic. We survived without pesticides, we survived without chemicals. We do not need bigger produce that has little taste. Organic food is more expensive. Yet, logically, the use of pesticides and growth hormones should be more costly than the use of none. But I get it: we have become greedy: farmers use chemicals to grow more produce and at a faster rate, to make more money. Because that’s what it all boils down to: money.
So for those that cannot afford to eat an all organic diet, eating chemicals will make them sick, thus they will make money for the pharmaceutical industry. Eating meat that contains growth hormones and antibiotics causes us to become resistant to antibiotics and we become sick. Guess who profits: yep. The pharmaceutical industry.
So what can we do? Like any worldwide problem nothing will change unless human mindset changes. If more people bought organic foods, that would create a higher demand, and possibly lower prices for consumers. But for that to happen we ALL need to want it.
