You know when you see a hike around a gorgeous lake? And you ask a guy who just finished the trail how long it took him and he says, “Three hours,” but you think, “We’re way faster than that.” And an hour in, everyone you pass has legit hiking gear while you’re all equipped with the hiking boots you bought last week and a backpack with a half full water bottle, two pairs of binoculars, and an empty tea thermos? And then it’s dusk and your husband asks how much battery life is on your phone, and your son is fighting tears because this is the second mountain hike you’ve been on today and everyone is exhausted? But then, at long last, you locate the elusive waterfall and take a timer photo to commemorate because no one is around to take it for you? And when you finally complete the hike, 2.5 hours later, you all go get dessert to celebrate before passing out asleep in the hotel room?
Oh, thank God.
I thought it was just us.
