"There are no problems, only solutions."- John Lennon
Psyche was high yesterday as me and the homies made the pilgrimage out to the holy land of Black Mountain. With the belief there would only be a little bit of snow on the ground, and a grand day of climbing ahead, we pushed forward up the mountain road, only to discover that there was a LOT of snow covering everything.
It was stunning to see my favorite mountain blanketed by a perfect layer of shimmering diamonds. As we hiked around and attempted to find dry boulders, I was in complete awe, and I couldn't seem to keep my mouth closed. I was baffled by my surroundings and felt like a kid seeing snow for the first time. I was perfectly content.
After spending about an hour imagining that the TDF boulder would dry up, the idea of actually climbing seemed dismal, as water continued to drip on most of the holds. Even though none of us were really climbing, psyche was still high, and we came up with a SOLUTION!
We decided to head back home and stop at the local Mt. Baldy area to actually get a chance to pull on some stone, which turned out to be a great success! Perfectly dry boulder, with perfect temps, a few beers, and amazing company! A fine recipe for awesome. I even managed to send "Illegal Alien!"
Long story short, there are never problems. Only solutions. Problems are perceived. They are an opportunity for you to grow. To dig deep and figure out how to make the best of a situation. We all have the ability to make magic, and take something perceived as "bad" and make it "good", this is alchemy. There are always hidden opportunities for us to grow and flex what we are made of. We're all badasses.
