Wright is hosting an ‘Important Design’ auction tomorrow in Chicago.
147 lots from the most influential designers, artists and architects of the 20th century.
The most incredible piece is a house by Marcel Breuer (est. USD 2,000,000-2,500,000) but I picked four more affordable items. I know the notion of affordable is very relative to each of us.
1- A chairs (model 5481, pair) by Edward Wormley (lacquered wood, brass, leather. 1954) - estimate: USD 8-10,000.
2- Chandelier by Paavo Tynell (brass, perforated and enameled brass. Ca. 1950). Estimate: USD 50-70,000.
3- Pierced Table by Isamu Noguchi (hot-dipped galvanised steel. 1982/1983). Estimate: USD 70-90,000.
4- Prototype Table Clock (model 2205) by George Nelson & Associates (glazed ceramic, enameled steel, enameled aluminum. ca. 1953). Very rare item. This series was never put to production. Estimate: USD 7-9,000.
