Sunset up the road
This is the third time I’ve posted some aspect of this house. It’s my favorite in Paddington which is a high honour because Paddington is a carefully preserved Victorian community with lots of beautiful facades and stunning interior renovations. This particular house is un-renovated, at least since the 1980’s, remains decorated in Victorian style, has a ladder propped up on the front veranda and yet is the most elegant and atmospheric Australian Victorian I know precisely because its features and interior are original. The shot, possibly hard to discern but still interesting I hope, is through the front window and the rear original pastel coloured panes at sunset. I wish my camera was able to capture the pastel colours of the glass in the back door as I could see them through the front window. I recently confessed to the owner that I’ve been stalking her house for more than a year for my IG feed. She very generously invited me in and has offered to get in touch for the next photo-op of the sunset at just the right angle when it lights up that rear stained glass door so I can try to show you the old lavender and pink panes at their best. Still it’s pretty cool just to see the light from the front street straight through the tall tie-back curtains to the rear as in this shot.
