Have you ever solo-hiked?
Tonight it's snowing again in Andorra, but around this time last year it was warmer. One Sunday I started off from where I took this photo, headed out past the mountains you see in the background, and hiked off up into the valley.
It was roughly an 18km round trip in the end, starting at 1,023m and peaking at 1,880m at #Fontverd Refuge.
I set off early. Beer, water, a picnic lunch, my Kindle, and a headlamp just in case.
I made it to the refuge just after 2pm, sat in the sun with the biggest smile on my face, rested my aching feet, and ate my lunch while my beer chilled in the snow.
Back at home that night I basked in the euphoria for about the duration of a long hot bath before starting to plan my 2018 goal: #estanydelilla — at 2,488m, and a considerably longer walk, I'll most definitely be staying the night in the refuge for that trip!
