505 x 8 - My goal is to increase both my glute strength and my glute size. The glutes have always been a weaker area for me compared to the rest of my body (both in strength and size). I decided to change that a little over a year ago. Been going ham on hip thrusts (best glute building exercise you can do assuming you're doing it right) and training them multiple times a week at varying rep ranges and loads, ISO holds, tempos, etc. To grow your glutes with this particular movement, you want to make sure you're hitting full hip extension at the top of the thrust and you want to chase that "pump," which is just cell swelling from working the muscle. To gain strength, you want to get under heavier load (assuming form is mastered and it's safe of course), in a relatively lower rep range (as shown here). A SERIOUS congratulations is in order for these two #masifitness clients Erik (@eriksfitness ) and David. They both showed up today in a big way going 8/9 at the #USAPL Words Have Weight meet. . . Erik took a scientific approach to training and ended up opening with all of his previous 1RM’s that he had when he was 30+lbs heavier!!! . . David, after recovering from a shoulder injury, absolutely smoked his final bench press and deadlift and ended up placing 3rd at his first meet ever! . . . “Knowledge Is Power”. . You can read all the textbooks in all the land, read all the slides, attend all the lectures and listen to all the audio books and podcasts you want, but if you are unable to translate that knowledge into application then you’re wasting your time. . I’ve been fortunate to marinate in the knowledge of more than a few bright individuals so far in my career and I’m also fortunate enough to work in a facility that pushes me to be the top of my game. I’m also incredibly lucky to have had the chance to network with brilliant mentors, and have big names in the fitness industry brought to my doorstep via @traperformance . Following on from @laurent_bannock’s seminar on “Evidence-Based Practise I’m Sport and Exercise Science” today, I’ve had time this evening to reflect upon my own practise and have highlighted key areas to improve and develop. . Unfortunately, in the real world practise of day-to-day personal training; theory is rarely clearly articulated and becomes lost down the hierarchy of knowledge into a convoluted mess. . Knowing which nutrition strategy to pick out of the skill set toolbox is akin to a sniper hitting a target precision aim, vs taking a shotgun scatter approach and barely hitting anything. This comes with experience. . In order to truly stand out in this industry, you must be able to apply knowledge learned in the trenches and be confident enough in your ability to achieve results. . Every successful practitioner started on the bottom rung of the ladder. Don’t be afraid to ask for help and admit you don’t know all the answers, but also don’t be a fucking melt. . #DMCPerformanceCoaching

Thank you all so much for all of the birthday love yesterday ✨💕 . 2️⃣7️⃣ Things About 🙋🏼‍♀️ (Comment any similarities we might have!) . 1️⃣ I used to show dairy cows at the #4H fair growing up, and I was the Grand Champion Showman a few years in a row 🐮🏆 2️⃣ If I had to pick one thing to eat for the rest of my life it would be chips & salsa & guac 3️⃣ My perfect temperature is 80 and sunny with a light breeze 4️⃣ I own an online health and wellness virtual franchise and am able to work from anywhere thanks to @theanywhereoffice 5️⃣ I grew up in the most Eastern point of Michigan, and could basically throw a stone to Canada across the river 6️⃣ I have always had a dream of owning my own clothing line 7️⃣ I made a bucket list in college and have already crossed off over half of the things on it, but #1 on my list is to be on @theellenshow 8️⃣ I have two awesome brothers who both live in Michigan and graduated from Ferris State.. my Dad went there too, but I’m a rebel and I went to Central Michigan instead 9️⃣ I’ve lived in 4 states, and my favorite by far is Nashville, Tennessee 1️⃣0️⃣ I gained 25-30 lbs in college and then threw my back out.. my rehab period helped me discover my passion for helping others get healthy in a sustainable way 1️⃣1️⃣ I’ve been #personaltraining for about 6 years and recently earned a specialization in women’s health and fitness 1️⃣2️⃣ Music is a huge part of my life, I have a #Spotify playlist for just about every occasion 1️⃣3️⃣ I love going to small venue concerts and acoustic sets 1️⃣4️⃣ I get really high anxiety when things don’t go the way I planned, or when I set a goal for myself and don’t achieve it when I planned to 1️⃣5️⃣ I started practicing meditation about a year ago and it has been a game changer when it comes to my stress levels 1️⃣6️⃣ My all time favorite restaurant is @greenspacecafe in Michigan and I miss it so much 1️⃣7️⃣ I traveled over 35K miles last year 1️⃣8️⃣ My favorite muscles to train are shoulders and #hamstrings 💪🏼 1️⃣9️⃣ I’ve been to #DisneyWorld more times than I can count, I think I’d have to say my favorite park is Animal Kingdom ✨Continued in comments ✨

I figure since there are soooooo many toys that keep coming into the studio I better start showing people outside the gym what fun is to be had in here by our clients. Stability ball/ physioball cable rotation Rotational strength is a major source of power for many sport, including baseball, golf, hockey, tennis,etc. If you don't rotate your core, you suffer a dramatic reduction in power. Holding a stability ball/physioball minimizes the activation of upper body muscles. The core rotator muscles are isolated, particularly the obliques. The exercise helps you explode through your lower body and core to finish a powerful athletic movement. I haven’t done these in a long time and after 2 quick sets.... you can feel it. 🔑 TO REMEMBER: 1️⃣: when you have the ball make sure to squeeze it firmly against your body. I hiked 10km to get up here and then practiced arm balances. All my doctors said this would be impossible without surgery. Or at the very least not 2.5 months after my severe injury. I am blown away by the power of the mind and the power of movement. Can't wait to embark in a deeper journey into my body... for the rest of my life. <3
