This is THE RAW YOGA PROJECT, a weekly insight that will remind us the foundations on yoga philosophy. A space where I will share how we live in Yoga out of the mat. The real Yoga, on a real life. I invite you to join by sharing your posts or stories using #RawYogaProject. .
Today I talk about the second Yama: SATYA. It means truthfulness, and invites us to live and speak our truth at ALL TIMES. Walking the path of truth is a hard one, especially while respecting the first Yama, Ahimsa. Since #ahimsa must be practiced first (read previous post on this project about AHIMSA), we must be careful to not speak a truth if we know it will cause harm to another. Living in our truth not only creates respect, honor and integrity but also provides the vision to clearly see the higher truths of the yogic path.
Start practicing #Satya with yourself, by observing the language you use to yourself and if its coming from a place of truth in you. Then it’s easier to reflect our truth when communicating to others, knowing also that YOUR TRUTH is only your perspective about something. What I think is most important about Satya is observing the moments when we try to manipulate the truth to obtain something, in other words, TO LIE. When we create excuses about certain behaviors, or just invent them to avoid doing something we don’t want to, when we commit to something knowing we will not make it happen, and so more are examples of daily manipulations of the truth. .
Living is Satya is so liberating!! It’s speaking and acting with no filters. Not worrying about making things up or feeling guilty of our actions. On the contrary, it makes you feel so light and at peace with yourself!!! .
Give Satya a conscious try this week and let me know your insights about it! .
Thanks to photography rockstar Anabela Salcedo for these awesome shots that give form to this project. .
