Dallas, Texas death metal outfit I Am put out their sophomore LP on November 2nd titled "Hard 2 Kill," on 1126 Records. If you're familiar with I Am, then their signature Texas Death sound will ring a few bells for you. For those who aren't familiar, think of riffage similar to the big 4, but with hints of Pantera and other classic heavy metal acts mixed with seriously heavy death. And fittingly, the opening track is titled "Texas Death," and slaps about as hard as an intro to a death metal record should. Everything that follows is an avalanche of heavy instrumentals and soaring vocal performances. Everything is on point, but not overly processed; there's still a certain degree of rawness to it, despite the high production value. The tracklist is full of bangers, songs like: Peel Back The Skin, Burn Slow, Ill Intent, the title track Hard 2 Kill, there's a portion of the song Grindstone that vaguely reminds me of Psychosocial by Slipknot (I'm probably gonna get shot for comparing death metal to Slipknot 😂). Seriously though, this album is an absolute beast. This is one you don't wanna overlook this year.
