Permission to say YES to what you really want💖
A year ago today, I woke up at 3:30 AM and got ready for our wedding ceremony in my parents’ upstairs bathroom, doing my own hair and makeup in mom’s fuzzy bathrobe.
A year ago today, Mom, Dad, Ben & I piled into the Honda Pilot and drove 40 minutes to Fort Williams state park, before the sun was up, to meet Toby and his family.
A year ago today, I climbed out on the rocks in my @grace_loves_lace wedding gown, waves crashing down below, and watched my king come out to meet me.
A year ago today, our families made a flower mandala with rose petals and marigolds, in the middle of a garden overlooking the water. My brother @benscuddermusic played the guitar for us as we walked down together into the garden, into this most magical space that felt out of time.
A year ago today, Toby and I facilitated our own wedding ceremony. It was soulful and unconventional, filled with laughter and cedar and sage and crystals and a Bali temple bell.
A year ago today, we stood with only our immediate families surrounding us and shared our vows. We played a song from our beloved friends @luluandmischka and held eyes for 8 minutes, unbroken, to the tune of Ishq Allah (which translates to God is Love, lover and beloved). A year ago today, I married the love of my life.
Friends, don’t for a second think that you need to do things the way everyone else does them. You get to decide what matters to you and what you desire. You get to decide to create an unconventional, epic life and to wait for the one who wants to create it all with you.
To the king of my heart, you’ve exploded my world in the best way imaginable. I love you so much @_tobes . Here’s to many many more years of making it up and making it beautiful as we go along 💖🌹💋 📸 @alexwiciel
