Got my a$$ into the gym today and it felt so good. The hardest part when I haven’t been in so long is getting back into routine. Have taken time off social media and the gym and have just been hanging out and enjoying myself w/ my fam❤️ Hopefully I find enough motivation to go tomorrow 🤣 Gonna make myself Insta accountable! So happy melbourne has been some producing some rays as well! Have been waiting for some sun for what feels like forever. I am missing Noosa so much lately 😩

Finally got around to doing a work out. (Just a small body weight hiit session). Currently #19.6 weeks pregnant with baby #4. Super tired. No motivation. I often get asked what exercises are safe and what to avoid with prolapse? . . In general, if you’ve have just found out that you have #prolapse, you should avoid any high impact exercises (like running, jumping or plyometrics), heavy lifting and really any exercises which can put pressure on your pelvic floor (crunches, planks, push-ups). Saying that it’s more about how you move then what you do. It’s important to incorporate proper aligment (technique while doing an exercise) and your breathing during movement (and it doesn’t matter if it’s exercise or picking up shopping or your kids). Don’t hold your breath as this can put pressure on your pelvic floor (unless you know how to do it with engaged PF). It’s important to exhale on exertion (in the hardest part of the exercise) and feel the awareness through the pelvic floor. So, for instance in the squat (or lunge) you want to exhale on the way up and at the bottom of the squat you want to have awareness through your PF (can you engage your PF at the bottom of the squat?). If you can feel your PF at the bottom of the squat, that’s great you can keep squatting. If you can’t, that depth might be too much for your PF at the moment so reduce the depth and see if you can feel your PF then. I’m not a fan of avoiding squats of lunges while you have prolapse (you might have read that in some articles on the net) as mums life is very demanding. You pick up kids, you squat, you lunge everyday with a load (kids, shopping, laundry) so we need to practice these movements so you can do it safely in your everyday life. Working on strengthening your glutes is also very important. Glutes and pelvic floor are best friends ☺. Exercises like squats, lunges, glute bridges, clams, step ups, kick backs and etc can help to strengthen your PF (if done correctly). I know this answer might not be very straight forward but it gives women with prolapse more freedom. Remember each person is individual and each recovery is going to be different. . . With consent 🙏 sharing a verbatim account of one of my clients, a new mom who faced this... . “Everything changed when my baby arrived, my family, husband and everyone around. I lost all the attention I got for the last nine months. I was judged every single second for being a mother. And all sorts of advices came in to me. I did not have a choice to say no because of being a first time mother. Instead of loving my kid, I used to wonder what I have done to myself. With sleepless nights and killing expectations, I started withdrawing from everyone and became over possessive about the baby. Even small conversation irritated me or made me feel cynical. I go on about priorities a lot! Because what we give priority to shapes our lives and ultimately our happiness! We may choose our priorities knowingly or without thinking about it. Choosing priorities that make you unhappy will obviously affect your life and your health. Choosing to hang around negative people, choosing to eat processed foods that make you feel bloated and give no energy, choosing to stay in bed when we could get up and exercise, choosing to get to an earlier exercise class even though the time doesn't suit so well, choosing to stay in a job we don't like.... Or you can choose to say no to the negative people, you can choose to eat more fruit & veg, you can choose to get up the first time your alarm goes off, you can choose to tell your partner that it's time you did something for you, you can choose to get uncomfortable doing something you wouldn't normally do. Everything is a choice, and sometimes we need to realise that and own it! No more blaming! Every choice we make is giving that choice a priority in our life. Do you like what you give priority to? Is it making you happy? Or are you always complaining about something and hiding behind excuses? How long are you going to keep complaining? And what happens if you don't make a change now? Come on!! I hear from people all the time that “working out seems easy for me” or “that I make it look easy” . And that “if they didn’t struggle so much to workout, they might actually enjoy it more.” . Can I just say. ITS NOT EASY FOR ME! . Even before I got pregnant with Liam & was at my all time healthiest. I still struggled some days to get a move right, couldn’t increase my weight lifting or become breathless & had to modify something. . I Do struggle. But what I don’t do, is not try. If I can’t get it, I modify. If I need a break. I take a second & breath. But I finish. . I may scream. Curse. Or even cry. But I get better each time. . Hello #transformationtuesday 👋🏼 the photo on the left was taken as my first #postworkoutselfie with starting my second postpartum fitness journey right in the depths of so many trials in our life and the right photo is today almost a year later. A lot happens in a year and i am in a COMPLETELY different place in every way. Not only physically but also mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and financially. I faced more trials than i thought i could bare and now the future is looking so bright. Our trials make us stronger and we GROW from them. We have the choice to become BITTER or BETTER. Talking about workout intensity below ... Oh, hey, it’s me! So I like to keep my Instagram really current and positive, but lately I’ve realized I’ve learned so much and made so many changes to my health and fitness life over the last 3-4 years that I have to go back and share more of it. . I got the question the other day “how did you go back to intense exercise after recovering from hypothalamic amenorrhea?” — The answer? It took a while! Right now, I do no more than 1 hour of intense HIIT cardio or power workouts a week. That’s it! The rest of my workouts are lighter, like Barre, circuit training and BODYPUMP — (which is not easy, but it also doesn’t have to be crazy intense either). I also always take a rest day or two each week, I never work out for longer than an hour, and I eat PLENTY of food — like a lot of healthy food and healthy fat, and I manage my stress in other ways to make sure I’m balanced. It’s important to do so if you have a history of over-exercising and a sensitive system — treat your bod right! Yes, you can go back to maybe 1 intense workout a week one day — but maybe you never will, and that’s okay too! There’s plenty of other ways to move and stay fit that won’t leave you totally spent. . I think I probably spend 90% of my time at home in pajamas and the other 10% in workout clothes. Half the time I workout in my pajamas 😂😂 it's fine tho. I never have to leave my house so whatever ✌️ I was just sitting here thinking.. where would I be without this opportunity. Honestly, I wouldn't have had a third kid. I'm not even sure I'd have my second. Post partum depression hit me pretty hard. And I was left with broken pieces and had no idea how to put them back together. I loathed everything I was. Even tho I had this beautiful baby, I wasn't ready to prepare for the 4th trimester... (The hormone changes, new schedule, your every move revolving around another tiny human, the stretch marks, the mombod if you will).. Cause NO ONE talks about it. No one warns you. It came to the point that I was so desperate. Finding a stranger online who said they had a solution seemed like the answer. And it was. Legit. Who knew that actually treating your body as if you liked it would change your whole life. I coach to hold myself accountability. I coach to be that sign for someone, the sign I so desperately was searching for. I show up cause other girls are counting on me. This has changed my whole life and it'll change yours if you let it. If you're ready to feel empowered, grow into a better human, gain confidence and friendships, my girl let's do this. TOGETHER. 💜👭

It’s #transformationtuesday and I’m excited to share more progress 🙌 Back in January I started something I called #projectlevis with a group of ladies. I had these jeans I bought postpartum that were about a size too small and I knew that when I bought them but they were on clearance and I love a bargain 😂 They all had goal items of clothing maybe red pants or blue shirt or black shorts. Whatever they chose. My Levi’s are now fitting me. Still snug but the muffin top is disappearing. I’ve got a few more pairs of goal pants but this is a step in the right direction ❤️ Do you have a goal clothing item that you are working toward?

We never see enough real women working out. It bothers me and I truly believe it's a reason why so many women don't like working out. We are self conscious enough as it is, and to do something different is even more challenging. Please don't worry about what others think of you, make the decision to do it for yourself and stick to it! I have always hated how my belly looked when I did squats so I'm fighting that belief by doing this. ❤️❤️❤️ (I don't like the Smith machine but it's the only thing my gym had and it is good to practice form in, especially since I haven't done squats in years)

✨What I did when I had HUGE ovarian cyst and terrible migraines when I was pregnant ✨ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I had migraines all during my first pregnancy with Dominic. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I would get a sharp pain, my vision would get very blurry on one side, then BAM!💥 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There was even a point where I had a HUGE ovarian cyst, went to the ER, was prescribed Percocet for pain and I took half of one and it didn’t take the migraine away that was happening simultaneously😰 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I started looking up alternatives for my migraines and to stop my cyst from growing more. I was 12 weeks pregnant and having surgery meant I might lose the baby. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ That’s when I found: ✔️Teecino (as a coffee alternative sometimes since coffee is know to “feed” cysts) ✔️Decrease the amount of red meat and sugar I consumed ✔️Peppermint oil ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I would place a couple drops of peppermint oil on a piece of tissue paper and just breathe it in. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ However, at the the time I thought all oils were made the same. I figured that as long as I wasn’t getting it at Bath & Body Works I was good! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Well, what I found out is that essential oils aren’t all made the same. Somewhere between March and now I’ve had this lie in my head: You’re a survivor of an eating disorder, and God has you so eat what you want post having your baby. It will come off easy now since you’re free! 🔥WRONG!🔥I’ve been so stuck because I have not been eating well and I’ve honestly felt not 💯 in the gym bc of it. God wants you to have healthy boundaries in your life because he loves you; yes, even with food. Life is a journey for sure, here is my first chapter post baby and my #liift4 #transformationtuesday ! 🌟 • • First, this program is amazing! 💗The combining of weight training and high intensity intervals in 30-40 minutes, working out just 4 days a week was awesome for me right after baby #3. I started the program #5weekspostpartum after my third c-section and was ready to jump all in. For me it was more for my mind and spirit then my body. I needed something for ME after baby and needed to feel like I was treating my body well after it had done so much for us and the blessing of our little one! During this program I was focused on showing up every day and pressing play, getting moving again post #csection all while I focused on #breastfeeding . I would highly recommend this program to anyone who wants to start or even ramp up their health and wellness journey! • • So, the numbers are in! ⬇️7.6lbs ⬇️8.5 total inches ⬇️4.5 inches on my waist!! ⬇️1.5 inches on my hips • • I feel stronger, more toned, and my mind and spirit feel alive and confident again! 💗 • • While I’m not emotionally ready to share my sports bra and bikini bottom before and after shots, the numbers don’t lie and I’m super happy with this progress after baby! It’s been a tough morning, y’all. The baby hasn’t let up on me, and the first thing my big kids did when they woke up was fight about their dang cereal. My mind continues to race about my to-do list, and when it doesn’t all get done, the anxieties of it carries over to the next day. I feel like a failure, guilty because I yelled more than I should this morning, and I’m convinced that I’m scarring my kids more than I help them at times. . I was in a rush to put some clothes on this morning, and didn’t even realize that I had thrown this shirt on. It’s one of my favorites from @clothandpalm and it reminds me to SURRENDER. . Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. -John 15:13 . I had been feeling so good the last couple of weeks, and I started to feel on edge because it felt too good to be true. I was telling my husband that I was afraid it would come back, and the unknowns were so scary. It’s nerve wracking not knowing who you will be when you wake up in the morning, but I know that as long as I keep putting one foot in front of the other and cast all my worry on Him, I’ll be ok.

Me➡️ Also me! . . A picture may be worth a thousand words but it doesn’t always show the whole truth. I have a strong, fit body and I have worked hard for that damnit!! But I am also human and have my own imperfections and never want to appear as though I don’t on this highlight reel called Instagram.😝 . 11 months postpartum and while I’m back to my pre-baby weight my body is still not the “same” body I knew before my son in SO MANY ways. And my normal may never be what it was before baby either. 🤷🏼‍♀️ And there is nothing wrong with that! While I do see these imperfections and know my body has changed, I also know that my body is so much more than the number on the scale and the size jeans I wear (no one sees that damn tag anyway!!😝). I have a much deeper appreciation for what it is capable of and even though I still have loose belly skin and some extra baby fat hanging around, I am much happier in my skin then I ever was before I became a mom. . I refuse to not enjoy life bc the scale may never show me what I want, FUCK the scale!! I refuse to not have a slice of cake at my son’s first birthday bc my stomach is a bit softer than its former self (that’s a waste of carbs anyway). . Our bodies take time to change and adjust postpartum, my body continues to change. Don’t rush the process and neglect to love yourself.💙 And don’t get hung up on what you see showcased on IG all the time!! We are all human.😉 . . 💁🏼‍♀️What is something you love about your PP body? Time flies when you’re a mom! I feel like I was pregnant just yesterday yet my little babe is fast approaching the 3 month mark. She changes every single day and it’s so fascinating to watch. I haven’t really gotten into a regular workout routine yet but I’m finding different ways to stay active such as daily walks, more yoga - I’ve been to the mommy and baby yoga @bayshoreottawa which is awesome (free on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10am on the third floor). As well as everyday mom stuff such as pacing around when baby girl is fussing and somehow going up and down the stairs about 100 times/day 😂 I’m 2lbs away from my pre pregnancy weight so I’m hoping to be back where I started by the time she hits 3 months! However, I have lost a lot of my strength in certain muscle groups. I went back to the gym yesterday for my first official weight lifting workout (every other workout has been all body weight movements) and I had to keep things really light.. So, it’s time to get back to lifting heavy things other than Valentina! I’m also meeting with my pelvic floor therapist again this week to make sure I can continue to progress my workouts, especially core work and any high impact exercises such as running, jumping etc..
