Kaho'olawe is an island reserve protected for Native Hawaiian cultural, spiritual, and subsistence purposes. The island is dedicated to Kanaloa, the Hawaiian god of the ocean, and is a sacred island that serves as the foundation for the revitalization of Hawaiian religious and cultural practices.
So when we showed up with partners from the Protect Kaho'olawe Ohana, @ve, and @sustainablecoastlineshawaii, we were saddened to see the state of its beaches. Even in this remote, sacred place, corporate plastic pollution is leaving its mark.
We found plastic that had washed ashore from @, @, @, @, @, and more. These companies make billions of dollars polluting our oceans — it's time for them to fix the crisis they've created.
