It was a thrill to wake-up, hearing the lovely wind howling outside and have all day to spent on the water. The wind was blowing today over 25 m/s and I reached for the smallest equipment available in @pozowinds selection, sailed with 3.5 m2 and even that was overpowered every now and then.
Wave sailors armed to begin in explosive fashion the @pwaworldtour Windsurfing Gran Canaria & Wind & Waves Festival, which kicked off and runs until the 21st of July.
Pozo Izquierdo is internationally famed in the windsurfing world due to its unrelenting wind and steep waves. The combination of these two factors creates the perfect playground for the world’s most extreme sailors to defy gravity and perform the biggest stunts on the planet. The local effects mean that even the slightest breeze can soon be accelerated to nuclear strength, with the wind peaking at around 25 m/s.
