I've said before that El Salvador and Greece is the blood that runs through my veins but Puerto Rico is the heart that pumps it. It's native inhabitants, The Tainos, called the island, Boriken or Borinquen which means: "The land of the valiant and noble Lords". Today, the National Puerto Rican Day Parade Marches along 5th Avenue. As the flags wave, people dance in the streets while the music plays, and scream, "Weeepaaaaa! Que viva Puerto Rico!!", studies indicate that the Puerto Rico death toll associated with Hurricane Maria is at least 4,654, over 70 times the original official count of 64. The Puerto Rico Department of Health raised its own estimate by at least 1,400. Right now, over 10,000 families on the island are still without power and in need of food, clean water, resources, supplies, and adequate medical care.
I pray today's march be a show of solidarity in a move toward an indepenent Puerto Rico and big FUCK YOU to the Trump administration!! Que viva Puerto Rico Libre!
